We all need to spoil ourselves from time to time, am I right? My guilty pleasure is stopping at Starbucks or a fancy coffee shop and getting myself a delicious treat.

I am also a bit of a penny-pincher too. How can you have it all, you ask?

Starbucks can be super expensive especially if it is a regular stop, so making a copycat recipe at home is a great idea. Our homemade version is SO easy and tastes AMAZING!

Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe Notes And Tips

  • Keep in mind that there are different grades of Matcha. There is Cooking Grade, Latte Grade and Ceremonial Grade options to choose from. For this recipe, I would suggest the Latte or Ceremonial Grade as the cooking grade has a more bitter taste and isn’t the vibrant green that you will want for your drink.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled and stored in a glass container with lid in the refrigerator for up 3 – 4 days.
  • I would recommend using Whole or 2% milk for your latte since they have the right balance of fats, proteins, sugar, and water to make the latte smooth yet not too creamy.
  • A blender is the best tool to use for blending your latte but you can also use a frother or hand mixer or immersion blender to mix up your latte. Another option is to place the ingredients in a glass jar or container with lid and shake vigorously.
  • If you are using matcha in your beverage for the first time, reducing the amount of powder slightly and increasing the sweetener just a bit might be a good idea. Matcha can be a little overpowering if you are not accustom to it.

Variations Of Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte To Try

  • Maple syrup, honey or sugar are all delicious substitutes for the vanilla syrup.
  • Give almond milk, oat milk, rice milk or coconut milk a try in place of the traditional whole milk.
  • If you like to try different flavors in your matcha tea, try adding some peanut butter, bananas, almonds or blueberries.

FAQs

If you have any questions about making Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte, check below to see if I’ve already answered them. Don’t see them? Please leave them in the comments!

If my Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte is clumpy, can I fix it?

Fix this easily by taking a mesh strainer and pouring the matcha latte through it to catch the clumps. Super easy and only takes a minute.

How long will the Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte keep in the refrigerator?

Leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 – 4 days. If you made extra to store for the rest of the week, do not add the ice cubes until you are ready to serve. This will keep the beverage from getting too watered down and will keep it smooth and creamy.

What is the difference between matcha and sweetened matcha?

Matcha is ground green tea. Sweetened match has sugar added to the ground green tea.

Is Matcha high in caffeine?

Yes, Matcha does contain a substantial amount of caffeine although it does not have as much as coffee if that helps. 😉 The good news is that there are caffeine-free options you can buy if that is what you prefer.
