How To Make Melted Snowman Cupcakes

Just follow these step-by-step instructions!

Step 1

Begin by placing the paper cupcake liners in the muffin tin and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Next, you will need a large bowl to prepare the cake mix. Combine the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs as per the directions on the box.

Step 3

Fill each paper cupcake liner approximately 2/3 full. Then bake for about 18 minutes. When finished baking, remove cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool completely.

Step 4

Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost with white frosting.

Step 5

Now, pour the edible glitter on a large plate. Carefully roll the edges of the frosting all the way around to coat.

Step 6

Cut the large marshmallow in half and place half cut side down in the center of the cupcake.

Step 7

Next, add the 2 halves of a pretzel stick to each side of the marshmallow as the snowman’s arms.

Step 8

Use 3 of the mini M&M’s on the top of the cupcake icing for the buttons.

Step 9

Finally, make eyes with the black cookie icing and an orange triangle carrot for the nose with the orange cookie icing.

Step 10

Allow icing to dry completely and ENJOY!

Melted Snowman Cupcakes Recipe Notes And Tips

  • There are edible ink markers that you can use to draw the face on the marshmallow if you have one or want to purchase one.
  • You can use your cookie icing to pipe on the arms if you don’t want to use or do not like pretzel sticks.
  • It is very important that you allow the cupcakes to cool COMPLETELY before decorating. It will be much easier to ice them and there will be no worries that the icing will be too soft or melt.

Variations of Melted Snowman Cupcakes To Try

  • If you are feeling a little more adventurous, use fondant and modeling chocolate to make the orange carrot nose and the arms.
  • Use 3 like colored confetti sprinkles as the buttons if you don’t have any mini M&M’s.
  • I personally would leave the marshmallow whole instead of cutting it in half. I love marshmallows and you have more surface to put an adorable face on the front. 😉
  • White cake mix is always yummy but definitely make what you love most. Strawberry, chocolate or lemon are all delicious and yummy choices.
  • Black string licorice would work perfectly to use for arms.

Melted Snowman Cupcakes FAQs

Here are some common questions about making these Melted Snowman Cupcakes and the answers.

Royal icing and cookie icing are very similar and can be used in pretty much the same manner. However, cookie icing does not dry as hard as royal icing. It also works great for piping designs or flooding cookies.

How long will my Melted Snowman Cupcakes stay fresh?

These cupcakes will stay fresh for up to 2 – 3 days. You do not need to keep them in the refrigerator but can store them at room temperature in an air-tight container.

Can I freeze the Melted Snowman Cupcakes?

If you want to freeze the cupcakes prior to decorating that would be optimal. They will freeze nicely in a freezer-safe, air-tight container for up to 3 months. When you are ready to use, thaw and decorate.

I would not recommend freezing these cupcakes after you have decorated them. The decorations would likely not hold up during or after the thawing process.
