How To Make Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Bread

Step 1

Begin by lining a large baking sheet with parchment paper and preheating the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Now you will cut the cheddar, pepper jack, and string cheese sticks into 4 equal size pieces.

Step 3

Next open both cans of biscuits, split each biscuit in half, and slightly flatten each half. Then place 2 of the cut cheese cubes in the center.

Step 4

Pinch each biscuit half up to the center and roll it into a ball.

Step 5

Now you will begin building the tree by starting at the bottom of the baking sheet. Place 7 balls across the bottom to make the base of the tree.

Step 6

For the next row, you will use, 6 of the balls. In the 3rd row, you will use 5 balls and so on and so on.

Step 7

In a small microwave-safe bowl or saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the garlic powder. Then brush this mixture over the entire tree.

Step 8

Next, you will sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese and parsley and place the cherry tomatoes evenly distributed on the bread tree.

Step 9

Bake the tree for 30 – 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 10

Finally, place the pretzel sticks at the bottom of the tree as the trunk.

Step 11

Serve immediately with ranch dressing or marinara sauce.

Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Bread Recipe Notes And Tips

  • Lining your baking sheet with parchment paper will allow you to lift the tree directly from the pan to a serving platter or cutting board without the chance of it breaking. It also makes cleaning your baking sheet MUCH easier. 🙂
  • Use a pastry brush, if you have one, to brush the melted butter and garlic mixture onto the bread before baking. It will be much faster and less messy. Plus, it spreads the garlic butter much more evenly.

Variations Of Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Bread To Try

  • This is a great recipe to use for other holidays as well. Make the dough balls into the shape of a rabbit for Easter, a shamrock for St. Patrick’s Day or a heart for Valentine’s Day. You may have to adjust quantity of dough balls you need but that is easy.
  • Sprinkle the top with a little (or alot) of parmesan cheese before baking. You can add this in addition to or in place of the mozzarella cheese.
  • If you prefer a sweet and savory dish, take off the tomatoes and sprinkle some pomegranate pieces after the bread is finished baking.
  • Along with the cherry tomatoes that look like lights, add a little more color by topping with thinly sliced orange or yellow peppers for garland.
  • Add some green food coloring to the dough to make your tree a little more Christmasy and festive.
