  • When filling your muffin tins, be sure to only fill only them about 3/4 full. This will leave room for the puffs to expand and rise without spilling over.
  • The size of muffin tin you use depends on the size you wish to make the Mashed Potato Puffs. A regular size or mini muffin tin will work great. Just remember to grease or spray the tin before filling and baking.
  • If you are having a large group of family and friends over for the holidays, you might want to consider doubling this super simple recipe. You will be sure to have enough for the meal and hopefully a few leftovers for yourself.

Variations Of These Mashed Potato Puffs To Try

  • Try adding some crumbled bacon and chopped green onions to give it a loaded baked potato flavor.
  • Add a touch of curry to the mixture before baking. Or think outside the box and add your favorite flavor combinations such as chipotle, basil or even some chopped jalapenos.
  • We all know that maple syrup is delish on sweet potatoes so why not drizzle just a hint of maple syrup over the sweet potato puff before serving. YUM!

FAQs

Why are my mashed sweet potatoes a little too soupy?

Sweet Potatoes absorb a lot of water when boiled. If they are a little too soupy, add cornstarch, powdered milk, or flour a tablespoon at a time to the potatoes until they reach your desired consistency.

You can also put them back on the heat or strain the liquid from the mashed sweet potatoes until they are the consistency you need.

Can I mix up the ingredients in advance?

You should be able to pre-mix the ingredients the night before and refrigerate until the next day when you are ready to bake.

Can I refrigerate the Mashed Potato Puffs?

These puffs are so delicious you may not have any leftovers, but if you do, they will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days in an air-tight container.

Reheat them in the oven, microwave, or air fryer.

Can I freeze these Mashed Potato Puffs?

You can freeze the mashed potato puffs by placing them in an air-tight freezer-safe container or freezer bag. They may not look quite as pretty as when you made them, but they will still taste just delicious.

Allow them to thaw in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
