Rejuvenating the Blues – Meet Jasim Haider & The Pindi Boys

What got you all into music? How was the band formed?

All 4 of us have been into music and know each other since childhood. When we first jammed, it was a mix of all our music tastes, a completely different sound and reflected our personalities. Thus, the Pindi Boys came to life.

What is the story behind the famous name “Pindi Boys”?

In 2014, when I released the song ‘Pindi Boys’,  it became viral across the country.  All 4 members of the band were born and raised in Rawalpindi so we decided to name our band Pindi Boys and take pride in our roots.

How would you describe your music genre? What unique attributes separate you from the others?

We are an Eclectic Mix of funk/blues/pop/country rock and when this eclectic mix is infused with our quirky personalities, everybody from all walks of life can relate to our music/performance.

Being a musician what you enjoy the most?

The ability to compose songs that makes our listeners nod their heads and groove to the beat, dance and feel better despite all the darkness that shadows our world.

The best memory about any musical gig you performed?

After surviving an emergency airplane landing, we went directly from the airport to the venue and gave a terrific performance in Islamabad, the crowd literally came on top of the stage and requested for an encore.

What is the weirdest thing a fan has ever done for you?

There is no weird fan moments as such, however, one of our fans in Turkey called Lila Ozkazanc and her friendre-recorded Pindi Boys and renacted the entire music video. It completely blew us away, check it out. Click here.

Tell us a song that best describes you?

Long Way To The Top – AC / DC

How would you describe yourself in three words?

The band has its own lingo and it comprises of 3 keywords “Disappearance, Toonders, Chaye”

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked?

Before going live on a TV Show, our lead guitarist Adeel was asked by one of the sound technicians “I’m sure you don’t need a cable for your electric guitar. Is there anything else that you need?” Yes, he asked this question VERY seriously.

What is something people might be surprised to know about you?

People don’t believe that our drummer Eiman and lead vocalist Jasim are brothers.

How would you want the world to remember you?

City Sadee Same Hai, Tayy Twin Aiwee Name Hai!” – A line from the bridge of our song Pindi Boys addressing the Islamabad/Rawalpindi stereotype.

What’s next on the bucket list of “Jasim &The Pindi Boys”?

We have a very long bucket list. The first 2 on the list are our next albums!
