What Is Article Spinning And Why You Should Avoid It

There’s one thing that successful bloggers, website owners, and businesses do on a daily basis.

You know what is it?

It’s creating content.

Writing new blog posts or articles consistently is the key to their success.

However, it’s hard to come up with new ideas all the time and some folks out there are trying to take the easy road by doing something unethical that is called article spinning.

Don’t know what it is?

Then you have to check the next paragraph.

What is Article Spinning?

You know what duplicate content is, right?

It’s when the blog posts and articles that are copied (stolen) from the creator and published somewhere by another person.

Google penalizes this kind of activity but people found a way around it.

They’ve created tools (or used writers) to rewrite and paraphrase content to make it look unique and avoid all the plagiarism claims.

So, Article Spinning is when people take a piece of content, change a few words, move sentences around and tweak some other things only to present the thing they’ve ‚created’ as their own.

This is obviously unethical and you should never do that.

I’ll show you how these tools work so you could see a bigger picture.

Please note that I do not promote it – I’ll show it only for the purpose of this blog post.

How Do Rewriting and Paraphrasing Tools Work?

To show you what we can expect from a text rewriter I visited https://articlerewritertool.com/ site.

It looks like this.

We can see that there’s one field where you can put the content you want to rewrite and there’s another below where you can see the result.

So, let’s put a small part of this blog post to see what we’ll get.

That’s what I’ve put in the first field.

And that’s what I’ve got.

As you can see this isn’t perfect and we can’t expect quality with these tools which is actually a good thing as these pieces of text can only be used on low-quality sites.

Well, we’ve got this covered. Let’s move to another paragraph.

What Article Spinning Is Not?

There’s a fine line when it comes to article Spinning so I’d like to tell what it is not.

Whenever you quote or paraphrase someone’s content but you cite your source it’s fine.

That’s what all the bloggers, publishers do all the time.

They’re not reinventing the wheel they’re always taking something from what’s already there but the difference is that they tell who the author is.

Why You Should Avoid Spinning Articles

So, now you know what is article spinning and you may be tempted to use it but I’d like to warn you against it.

I’m going to give you 5 reasons why you shouldn’t do that.

Check below!

Rewriting Articles Doesn’t Help SEO

Well, If you’re lucky a spun article might spark interest for a short period of time and bring up your SEO score, but overall article paraphrasing will have the opposite effect for two reasons.

The first one is that article spinning has been around for a long time and Google and other search engines have found ways to recognize these crappy articles and set them firmly at the bottom of their search pages. The rewriting process often creates content that is hard to read and low-quality, which automatically lowers your SEO scores.

It Is Easily Recognizable

A spun blog post is easy to spot because it sounds almost identical to another popular article. Your readers know your writing voice and will recognize if your article sounds like it was written by someone else.

The other reason why these low-quality articles are also easy to spot is that these articles use synonyms that are rarely used in everyday conversation like „male” for „man” and „canine” for „dog”.

Furthermore, today there are excellent programs that check for spun articles such as Copyscape.

This Kind Of Content Is Usually Unreadable

Because article rewriting software often uses synonyms to try to trick SEO and plagiarism checkers, the sentences can be changed so much that they no longer make sense, especially when you are using slang or jargon.

In addition to this, article spinning software also rearranges sentences, can make articles confusing, and ignore the rules of grammar.

It Undermines Your Credibility

As if your article being low-quality and hard to read wasn’t enough, article spinning hurts your business or blog credibility.

Using tools to paraphrase articles tell your readers that you’re too lazy to be bothered to write about a subject or that you don’t know enough about a subject to write about it. Either way, your readers will not be impressed and won’t be driven to buy a product or service from you.

In addition, to thinking you’re lazy and uninformative, your reader may also consider you unethical for spinning content that belonged to and was written by someone else.

You Could Be Sued For Plagiarism

Finally, you shouldn’t spin articles because plagiarism is a crime. You can’t rip off someone else’s work without consequences. You can be sued for using content that wasn’t rightfully yours.

What You Should Do if You Need Fresh Content

There’s one main reason why people would ever consider spinning the content: lack of ideas to write about.

So, how could you figure out some new blog posts? How could you get more interesting ideas?

There are some ways to help you solve that problem.

Brainstorming

It may sound too simple to be true but when you’re out of blog or article ideas, take a minute and brainstorm.

Just stop and think about what your blog or business site is about, what your readers need or want to hear, and what interests you as a writer.

Write down every idea you have and choose from your best ones. Brainstorming regularly will give you plenty of fresh content to work with.

Get Inspired By Others

Feel free to research other authors and learn from them.

Just like I mentioned before if you want to use someone’s words always link back to their page and cite all of your sources.

They deserve the credit for it, don’t they?

Hire a Writer

You don’t like to write?

That’s okay.

Lots of folks aren’t interested in writing or are lacking some skills or grammar knowledge.

Luckily for all of us, there are writers who are eager to create content for others. You can find them on sites like iWriter or Fiverr.

You just need to make sure that any writer you hire has an understanding of your needs and objectives for the article you want to be written.

So, let’s sum it all up.

Conclusion

Article spinning is an unethical practice that doesn’t provide any real results.

Most people who spin articles are looking to bump up their SEO score, but poorly spun articles aren’t getting good feedback and often do more bad than good.

In addition to bad business, article spinning can also lead to legal troubles. It’s best to avoid this practice altogether, especially when there are easy ways to avoid this problematic method of generating content.
