Pinterest is a great place to promote your blog or your online business. People experiment with their strategies trying to get the best out of it.

They dream of driving thousands of visitors to their websites and converting them into buyers.

But it’s not that simple and like everything good in this World it takes time and hard work.

I’ve been using at least three different Pinterest marketing strategies but none had worked as good as Manual Pinning Strategy.

What I mean by manual pinning?

I mean that you’re present on Pinterest, you pin your pins manually, you don’t use a scheduler, you scroll Pinterest searching for new ideas and engage with other users on a daily basis. Consistency is key here.

Sounds time-consuming, doesn’t it?

Well, it kinda is.

But when you master it and you spend your time there effectively it can be really quick.

Let me show you why I’m such a fan of this method!

My Short Term Results Using Manual Pinning Strategy

As I mentioned before I’ve tried many different tactics (well, perhaps some of them might’ve worked better if I had been more consistent) but the one that brought the best results was manual pinning.

I’ll show you my stats before and after I implemented this tactics.

You might say that these are not really great results and I’ll agree but I believe it still has a room for improvement since it’s still in the early stages.

I don’t have that much content yet, and my niche isn’t home decor, art or photography (these are the biggest niches on Pinterest).

Having said that I believe that traffic from Pinterest to my blog can be taken to another level.

Ok, without any further ado let’s see the stats.

Average Monthly Viewers

My Own Pins Impressions

My Own Pins Saves

My Own Pins Clicks

As you can see my stats tripled almost instantly! It really works and I just can’t wait to get more blog posts and pins to post to scale it!

I’m sure you want to find out what do I do to get these results! Find out below!

Manual Pinning Strategy Tips

I’m going to give you my manual pinning strategy tips but before implementing any of them you have to make sure that your profile and your boards are optimized and full of relevant keywords you want to target.

Another very important thing is the quality of your pins. Both the design and the copy should be first class. Pinterest is a visual search engine and people won’t click something that doesn’t look appealing.

If your profile, your boards and your pins are still a long way from being good the strategy probably won’t work that well.

So, before implementing any of these tips below make sure you get everything I wrote about above right.

Without any further ado let’s find how you can massively improve your Pinterest reach and traffic using these methods.

Repin Copies of Your Pins Shared by Other Pinterest Users

Find copies of your pins shared by other pinners and repin them. It will help you make the pin more popular. Make sure you repin them to your most popular boards!

Remember! Don’t repin the ones you pinned yourself.

Where to find those copies that I’m talking about?

Few places:

  • Smart Feed – this is the window that shows up when we log in to our Pinterest account. It can be difficult to find your pins there as it displays a lot of other pins as well. However if you’ll be lucky enough to find of your own make sure you repin it!
  • Notifications – you can find them in the top right corner under a bell icon. Look and repin pins from notifications like the ones below!
  • Activity Feed – this window shows us only our own pins that were pinned by others. To get find them follow my steps.

First you need to click on your profile.

Then you need to choose ‘Activity’ and you’ll see a lot of pins. All of them were already pinned by others. You just got to repin them!

  • Pinterest Analytics – you’ll search for the best performing pins there but you got to be careful what you repin since there are also the pins you pinned yourself. I’ll show you which ones you should share and which ones you shouldn’t.

Firstly, let’s open the analytics here:

Since we’re only interested in our own pins we need to choose this:

It’s all about traffic so we’re going to choose ‘Link Clicks’.

We’ll see a list of the five best performing pins but if we’d like to see more we can get a bigger list by clicking ‘Show more’.

What now?

You need to check if they’re your own pins.

How?

Just click on one of them and check if there’s your name in the place I marked below. If there is a different name than yours you can repin it because it’s a copy of your pin shared by another Pinterest user which is exactly what we are looking for.

Repin Copies of Your Pins That Were Pinned to Relevant Boards

For some reasons your pins aren’t getting pinned only to the relevant boards.

Sometimes pins end up being pinned on boards that are absolutely off topic.

Maybe it’s a mistake or someone didn’t really understand what the pin is about.

Since we’re trying to act carefully and provide Pinterest with the best keywords so it would get an idea what the pin is about we should make sure we don’t repin the pins that land on boards that are completely unrelated.

Try to repin only the ones that are connected to your pin’s niche. Whether it’s a broad or narrow connection it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s relevant.

Pin the First Copy of a Pin to Your Broad but Relevant Board

To get the most of these tactics you need to have a decent number of your own boards (don’t worry, you can create more later if you find the existing number insufficient) because you’ll be using them a lot.

So, you got your first pin and you’re wondering where to pin it?

The pin is about a keto diet recipe and you got three boards like this: Diet, Keto Diet, Keto Recipes.

Make sure you pin the first pin to the broad board which is “Diet” and then after at least a few days pin another copy (pin it from your website) of the same pin to more niche specific board (both Keto Diet and Keto Recipe would fit just fine).

Make a New Pin if The Old One Isn’t Getting Traction

You pinned your pin a few days ago but it’s not getting shared even though you’ve been using Pinterest for a few months already?

Perhaps there is something wrong with it.

Create a new design, new copy, maybe even optimize it for different keywords and pin it again!

Do that until it gets shared.

You can still try to pin the one that didn’t get shared in the first place – it can still get some engagement later.

Make Sure You Don’t Spam The Boards You’re Pinning To

If you’ve only got a few really well performing boards you can easily spam it. Both Pinterest and other pinners won’t like it.

I suggest two things to deal with that:

  • Create or join more boards – just make more relevant boards you could pin to or send some requests to join group boards. Review the group boards from time to time. Leave the worst performing and join better ones.
  • Create a sheet with your pins and your boards and mark when you pin to a particular board. You’ll be able to tell if you’re not pinning too often.

Manual Pinning Works but If You Have No Time You Should Try Tailwind

Manual pinning works.

My results improved significantly since I started using it. My reach is constantly increasing, the clicks and saves went up as well. Even though I haven’t been using this for long.

I’ll surely write another post after few more months to show if it’s still working and what results I get.

To sum up, I suggest following my tips and adding a few tweaks of your own to this tactics.

Success isn’t guaranteed but if you stay consistant you should really improve your stats.

However, if you don’t have time to pin. If you don’t have that hour a day I suggest to try Tailwind. It’s an automated scheduler with a few other awesome options like Tribes (to find out how to use Tailwind Tribes check my post here: How to Get More Re-Shares From Tailwind Tribes) that will increase your pins exposure.

You can create your account here. You can try some of their features without having to pay at all.

So, what is your Pinterest strategy?
