Glum Phil Collins, 71, continues to look frail as he sits while performing at Genesis gig in Berlin

Phil Collins continued to look frail as he performed with his band Genesis at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin on Monday night.

The singer, who is touring with fellow bandmates Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, all 71, shot a glum expression as he remained seated throughout the gig.

He’s been plagued by a number of health issues in recent years, starting with an injured vertebrae in his upper back in 2009.

The injury was sustained during a show and left him with cripplingly Painful Nerve Damage.

Despite Phil’s health issues, after two break ups and a reunion tour, the English trio have been back on the road under the banner: The Last Domino? Tour. 

The band opened their set with the song Behind The Lines and then Duke’s End, both from their hit 1980 album, Duke.

The setlist was full of Genesis staples including, the Mama, Follow You Follow Me, Invisible Touch, Throwing It All Away and I Can’t Dance, among others.

Phil used to be behind the drum kit during early incarnations of the band, but like more recent years he was relegated to being out front as the singer, with his son taking over as drummer.

The musician lost the feeling in his fingers following surgery and could only play drums for the band, as he did previously, if the sticks were taped to his hands.

In his 2016 autobiography he revealed he’d struggled with alcohol abuse after his retirement and the following year he stated he was a he is a type 2 diabetic and had received treatment in a hyperbaric chamber after a diabetic abscess developed on his foot and became infected.

He also suffers from a condition called foot drop after a back operation, leaving him needing a stick to help him walk.

The tour, which was originally slated to begin in late 2020, had to be postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually kicking off on September 20, 2021 with a show in at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

After playing concerts around parts of Europe, the tour would come to a halt on October 8, with just four dates left, when one band member tested positive for coronavirus.

Those shows have since been rescheduled for March 2022.

A North American leg kicked off on November 15 with a show at the United Center in Chicago. The trek is scheduled to go into into mid-December, with a new show added for the 16th in Boston.

Ahead of the tour, Collins set the record straight and let it be known that this is the last tour for Genesis.

‘This English and American tour, that will be enough for me,’ he confessed during an interview with Mojo.
