He has been very open about his close relationship with his now late Mother as he has even named two albums and a creative agency after her.

And now rare footage has been released showing just how close Kanye West was to his mom Donda.

The full-length trailer for Netflix three-part documentary 21- years in the making -titled jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy – was released on Friday as it featured plenty of never-seen-footage from the now 44-year-old artist’s early years of trying to make it in the music industry.

Last month a teaser was released from the same film as it showed the  rapper working on his 2004 debut album The College Dropout in addition to more intimate moments with his beloved mother.

The minute-long video began with footage from New York City in 2002 as a young Ye could be seen telling the cameras that he had bickered with collaborator and fellow Chicago-based rapper Rhymefest over his genius.

Ye is then showed hilariously glaring into the camera with his signature smile on his face.

There was also old footage of him in the studio with Pharrell Williams  who could be seen in awe of him as he spat one of his verses in the studio.

The 48-year-old Virginia Beach native praised the artist as he said: ‘Very rarely do you encounter self-contained people. This man can do everything himself. He’s living it.’

In April 2021, Billboard.com reported that Netflix had spent upwards of $30 million to acquire the feature being put together by Ye collaborators Clarence ‘Coodie’ Simmons and Chike Ozah. 

According to Billboard, Simmons has been filming Kanye since the late 1990s.

The never-before-seen footage includes the early years of the rapper’s career in Chicago, the death of his mother Donda West, his foray into the fashion industry and his 2020 presidential run.

The feature is being put together by Ye collaborators Clarence ‘Coodie’ Simmons and Chike Ozah, pictured in 2015. The duo worked with Kanye on his Through The Wire video in 2003 and Simmons has been filming the recording artist since the late 1990s, according to Billboard

It will also detail his 2020 presidential run (pictured with Donald Trump in the Oval Office in October 2018) but it’s not known if it will also address his highly publicized mental health breakdown in 2016 that left him hospitalized in LA

Simmons and Ozah worked with Kanye on his Through The Wire video released in 2003 and on the third version of Jesus Walks.

 A source told Billboard that the Life Of Pablo artist has given the duo his blessing for the project which the pair will produce in conjunction with TIME Studios.

The three week event – titled jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy – begins streaming on Netflix on Wednesday, February 16
