During Triumph30 prayer this night, the person leading prayers talked on Jeremiah 1:5.
““I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.””
Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
It was so refreshing to hear that God knew me even before He formed me. He saw my challenges and peculiarities. This really blessed me.
God has a plan for my life; He has a plan for your life. He knew you before He formed you.
God called Jeremiah as a prophet to the nations (verse 5) and Jeremiah said “O Sovereign Lord, I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”.
Jeremiah had a good excuse. How can he be a prophet to the nations? He’s not experienced, there are older people, he’s too young.
See what God said in verse 6
“Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
God told Jeremiah not to say he’s too young. What mattered is that he obeyed God. God also assured him saying he shouldn’t be afraid and that God Himself will be with him and protect him.
I think that’s interesting that God Sees us in a way that is different from how we view ourselves. God knew Jeremiah was too young, He could have chosen another person for the work, but He chose young Jeremiah. He knew what He was doing.
The person that led prayers this evening said God factored all that “excuse” into design, meaning, He knew, but it didn’t matter.
It was encouraging to hear because lately, especially today, I’ve been feeling a way I really can’t describe. I think the thing closest to it is, I’ve been feeling like I’m not enough, I’m not doing something enough and I’m not worthy. I’ve also been feeling out of place. I think it’s affecting my mindset and by God’s grace, I’m fighting. Joining this evening’s prayer was such an encouragement, it was certainly needed and I’m glad I joined.
The next verse, Jeremiah 1:9 says
Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth!”
God is so intentional. He not only looks beyond your legitimate excuses as to why you can’t do certain things or fulfill purpose, He not only assures you, but He equips you. Isn’t God good?
For Jeremiah’s excuse about not being able to speak for God because he is too young, God reached out and touched his mouth and said “Look, I have put my words in your mouth!”.
God is intentional, He is able and He is a good God and Father.
I hope this blessed and encouraged you as much as it did for me. In all, know that God sees your excuse, yet, He placed that idea, burden, passion, or call in you.
