Argentina Comic Con 2023 was the epic gathering of geeks and fans from all walks of life, and I am proud to say I was among them.

Can you blame me?

Comic Con is a magical realm where superheroes, wizards and aliens from almost every novel, TV, movie, and comic book genre roam freely.

And after the year we've had, we were looking forward to entering this place where the lines between fiction and reality blur.

As cosplayers strutted their stuff, we took every chance we had to take photos with these creative people.

This year, the event had its usual panels and workshops as well as VIPs that graced the stage. There are only three that I remember off the top of my head. One was Evanna Lynch who played Luna Lovegood in "Harry Potter." Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the producers of "The Flash" film were also present. But no. We didn't pay for the meet and greet for these guests or wait for them to go on stage. It wasn't personal. It's just that we only paid for the last day of the comic con and there were so many booths to explore.

There were plenty of geeky things for us to enjoy, like the recreation of scenes and sets from shows like "Stranger Things" and "Wednesday."

They also had cardboard promos of films like "Meg 2" for people to take photos in front of.

I had actually learned a few days earlier that Paramount was going to be present at the event. So, naturally, I assumed that there would be promotional posters and maybe even a few items on sale for shows like "Star Trek," which I love. Sadly, the booth was so small that I almost walked passed it without noticing it. Also, there were only a few Star Trek action figures, but nothing like communicators, props or uniforms, which are so difficult to find in Argentina.

While this was a huge bummer, there was still so much to see and buy at the event!

As we continued walking around, we discovered a medieval section complete with life-size figures of knights and live vendors dressed in medieval attire. 

But we ran into one issue when we tried paying for certain items. It turns out that none of the booths we wanted to buy from were taking debit or credit cards, and we had exhausted our cash reserve. The only way we could pay was through an online payment service called "Mercado Pago." Unfortunately, this required good internet service and cell Phone Provider. Unfortunately, the area we were in had a very weak internet signal and every vendor told us that "Personal" which is our phone provider, sucked!

Anyway, we spent almost an hour walking around to see if we could get a decent enough signal to pay one of the vendors. And just as we were about to give up, I realized that I could use my phone to create a wi-fi hotspot. This allowed the hubs to finally complete the transaction.

By this point, we were exhausted and wanted to go home. It was a good thing too because it was 8 pm and the Argentina Comic Con was shutting its doors.

All in all, we had a good time, but when we got back to the Airbnb, we had a disappointing encounter with our Subway sandwiches. 

And it turns out that it wasn't the only letdown during our B.A. trip. But I'll talk more about that in my next post.
