In a sense – business owner or not – all of us has the same 24 hours in a day. We cannot buy a single hour or even a single second to add to this universal law. Yes, neither of us can accumulate time. Once the time is gone, it is gone forever.

Invest your time wisely.

So if you cannot accumulate time and you feel you are lacking it because of the abundance of task needed your attention, what should you do? Many people including Entrepreneurs has been helped by these strategies to able to succeed in their business and find a work-life balance.

Be organized – organizing includes setting up your priorities, thinking ahead and simplifying your life. Preparing a to-do list and keeping in your mind what is most important will help you to be organized. But also bear in mind that not all important is urgent and not all urgent is important. Plan ahead to make the most efficient of your time and remove task that consumes nothing other than time and energy. Too many appointments and activities in a single day can only add stress. Learning to say no to the things that are not important will help you to simplify your life.

Avoid Time Stealers. – What are the time stealers? One of it is procrastination, Wikipedia gives the meaning of this term as “the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished. It could be further stated as a habitual or intentional delay of starting or finishing a task, despite its negative consequences.” Yes, procrastination is a thief of time and productivity. Another time stealer is perfectionism. Wikipedia defines perfectionism as a personality trait characterized by a person’s striving for flawlessness and setting high-performance standards, accompanied by critical self-evaluation. Yes, we love doing our best in every task that we do, and high standards are admirable! However, sometimes we might set our standards so high that we invite disappointment and even failure. Be modest in your expectation, and sometimes it’s okay not to take ourselves too seriously and to laugh at our own slip-ups.

Be Balance. – Work hard and enjoy the reward. Don’t become a workaholic who deprives himself of life rewards and enjoyment, who has no time and energy for the fruit of his work. So again, work hard and enjoy the reward. Give yourself time to rest. Most of the adults need eight hours of night sleep to gain physical, emotional and cognitive benefits. So sleeping, therefore, is a good time investment, because it helps concentration, consolidates memories, thus promotes learning. On the other hand, lack of sleep contributes to accidents, errors, and irritability.
