How to write a blog post

One huge mistake I see when reading blog posts, is long Paragraphs. Let’s be real, if I see super long paragraphs, I’m exiting quickly. So with that in mind, I always limit my paragraphs to no more than three to four sentences when writing a blog post.

Because most people are reading on mobile devices, and tablets, making large paragraphs seem overwhelming.

In addition when formatting your blog post, you want to break up the post using visual content, such as a beautiful photos, an ad, or a video.

According to neilpatel.com, articles with visual content receive more than 94% more views, than those without. That’s huge right!

Most bloggers use plugins such as Shareaholic or Simple Share Buttons, that will allow their posts to be easily shared to social sites such as Pinterest, and Facebook. However, for your content to be shared, you want to create graphics or pins. Bloggers can create pins, and graphics using sites such as Canva, or Picmonkey.

In fact, another great way to make content easier to be shared is to place social icons, at the top and bottom of the post.

Headings

Blog headlines typically consist of ;

  • h1 this size is typically reserved for main titles
  • h2 for subheading and section titles
  • h3 for subheading and paragraph headings

When writing a blog post, you also want to be mindful of your Heading Sizes. Typically I do not use large size headings within my blog post. I like to use h3 and h4 size headings. I’m not an SEO expert, but I do know using the wrong heading size can hurt your SEO efforts. Read about the effects of heading sizes and SEO from the experts here.
