The Supreme Court on Monday modified the bail condition of chairman of Kerala People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Abdul Nazir Maudany, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the 2008 Bengaluru serial bomb blasts case, permitting him to travel and reside in his home town Kollam in Kerala.

The Division Bench of Justice A.S. Bopanna and Justice M.M. Sundresh directed the accused to report to the nearest Police Station in Kollam every 15 days.

Earlier on April 11, the Apex Court had directed Maudany to stay in Bengaluru till the trial in the blasts case was over.

Appearing for Maudany, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, assisted by Advocate Haris Beeran, apprised the Court that the trial was over and there was no reason for Maudany to continue to stay in Bangalore.

Sibal contended that Maudany was in a wheelchair, his leg had been amputated and he had undergone a kidney transplant.

The Senior Advocate contended that Maudany’s mother had expired and his father was presently not keeping well. He said the trial was over and the arguments were going on.

As per Sibal, the respondents themselves had said that since thee were many accused, the arguments would continue for two years.
