Jabalpur court convicts 2 for acid attack on young man

The Jabalpur District Court has convicted two accused of fatally attacking a young man by pouring acid on him over old enmity in Gwarighat Police Station area of Jabalpur.

The ADJ Court has punished the accused Tilla Alias Jittu and Surendra with rigorous imprisonment for ten years each and a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

For the prosecution, Ajay Kumar Jain argued that oral information was given by injured Santosh Patel that he was returning to his house situated at old PP Colony by motorcycle from his brother Munna Patel’s house at Bajaria Polipathar at around 11 o’clock on the night of August 11, 2016.

At the same time, at around 11.15 pm, as soon as he reached near Mayur Kala Mandir, accused Bablu Pandit fired at him with the intention of killing him, then he bowed down. Then he along with Tilla alias Jittu and Surendra poured acid on Santosh.

The victim saved his life by running away from there and lodged a report at Gwarighat police station. The skin has been uprooted due to acid falling on the back of his head, back, chest, near both hands and neck.

The police filed a case under Section-307 and other sections of the IPC and presented the challan before the court. Keeping in view the witnesses and evidence produced during the trial, the court punished Accused Tilla Alias Jittu and Surendra with rigorous imprisonment for 10 years each and a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
