Gorakhnath temple attack: Death penalty has been awarded to Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi by special NIA Court

Death penalty has been awarded to Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi,by the Special NIA Court in Lucknow District of Uttar Pradesh today.

Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi,was arrested last year in April for forcefully entering the Gorakhnath Temple and attacking the security personnel who were working in the premises with a sickle.

The Special judge of the ATS court Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi after hearing the case continuously for 60 days,has convicted Abbasi under Section 121 (Waging, or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India) and Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Abbasi had been charged for attacking two PAC security personnels deployed at the premises with a sickle and injuring them.

Abbasi was arrested the very same time , when he was overpowered by the security personnel deployed there .

The Additional Director General of Police Prashant Kumar, said that Abbasi had been trained by ISIS.

As per the information available and Investigation done, it was revealed that Abbasi had gone to Nepal and was influenced with the ideology of terrorist organizations. In fact, the police had allegedly recovered Jihadi literature and inciting audio and videos from him.
