Ringing A Girl…

We had to do that,

back in my day.

No hiding behind text,

insta or suchlike.

If we wanted to date,

had to pick up the phone.

Not my skill set,

my area of expertise.

I’d go into a panic,

get overly stressed.

Sometimes I’d write,

what I wanted to say.

But mostly I mumbled,

stuttered and gasped.

So I didn’t get many girls,

to agree to see me.

I stayed home most nights,

just watching TV.
