DEATHBED…

So here I am in bed,

dying slowly but surely of death.

Don’t be too sad,

it’s just my time to go.

~

I’ve been saying my goodbyes,

awaiting patiently my fate.

~

Carrying out an audit,

of all I Achieved.

~

A second place one sports day,

in the egg and spoon race.

~

The time I posted a selfie,

that achieved a dozen likes.

~

That speech at my daughters wedding,

took me ages to write.

~

It’s true I’ve been nothing special,

haven’t lived an extraordinary life.

~

But I hope that I’ll be remembered,

for my kindness, humour and love.

~

For these are the values that matter,

ones to measure upon my deathbed.
