Basso started his career as a child actor with two of his first film roles as a teenager. He had some minor roles in Meet Bill, portraying Aaron Eckhart and Alice Upside Down as Alyson Stoner before shifting to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. Basso initially wanted to become a professional football player before he chose to act.

2. Super 8 

This is a directorial science fiction thriller movie by JJ Abrams, which was released in 2011. The story is based on the adventures of a group of teenagers who were filming their movie when they were faced with a menacing presence after a train got derailed. 

Basso’s character in the movie is Martin Read who is a friend of the main character in the movie. He helped them in the filming. We see him accompanying the others to rescue Alice, another character, when she gets kidnapped by the weird creature. Set in 1979, this movie stars Joel Courtney, Kyle Chandler, and Elle Fanning.

3. The Kings of Summer

Released in 2013, this dramatic comedy directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts stars Basso as Patrick Keenan, the best friend of Joe Toy. The story is about three teenagers who face family circumstances and decide to run away home. Basso’s character has a difficult relationship with his parents and decides to escape into the wild for a quiet summer with Biaggio. 

The group plans to live in the forest in a self-built house far from society. They are reported as missing in the city while the group lives in the woods. Keenan is seen developing a turbulent relationship with Kelly, the love interest of his best friend.

4. Hillbilly Elegy

The grandmother, Mamaw played by Glenn Close, talks to her younger grandson J.D. starred by Owen Asztalos, and tells him that it is always up to him whether he wants to make the best of his life.

The grandmother tries to keep everything in place for the boy even though his mother has serious addiction issues and is lethal about the child. This makes the childhood of the boy very difficult.

Basso’s character, J.D., gets accepted at Yale to study Law after completing high school. Unfortunately, he is called back to his hometown in Ohio by a phone call, and the character reflects on the three generations of his family history and also his future. 

This movie, based on J.D. Vance’s bestselling memoir by the same name, stars other actors like Amy Adams, Glenn Close, and Haley Bennett.

5. The Night Agent

The story revolves around monitoring a secret emergency line that rings rarely. The rush begins when Basso’s character, Peter Sutherland, gets a call from a young woman named Rose, played by Lucaine Buchanan. The relatives of the girl are killed, and Rose is on the run to escape the murderer. 

Sutherland steers her through the ordeals while he sends police to her rescue, but soon discovers a deadly conspiracy that involves a mole from the White House.

He seeks help from his boss, Diana Farr, to keep the girl safe while he gets to the bottom of the conspiracy. He discovers that Rose is a witness who is linked to the traitor who wants to assassinate her and harm the President of the United States. 

The series is considered one of the best of his career.
