Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her latest role and how excited she was to star in an action thriller.

In Thursday’s episode “The View” the actress and producer said while filming her upcoming movie “The Mother” “It was a lot of fun”, it was also “a lot of work”.

In the film, directed by Niki Caro, Lopez plays an assassin fleeing from dangerous assailants. But she comes out of hiding to protect her daughter who she abandoned earlier in her life.

The role required her to undergo regular combat training. Also, she explained that it was “choreographed.” We have to be efficient. I can’t fight eight hours a day. After about an hour I think OK. So they had to be very efficient and they choreographed it almost like a dance, which is good for me as I’m a dancer.”

The actress and executive producer also reflected on her career. Also, said she’s excited to now be able to play action roles like her in TheMother. But she then jokes that she wishes she’d gotten “those kinds of roles that I get, weirdly, now when I was a little spry. But a little, you know, younger.”

The 53-year-old singer/actress has spent many years making rom-com. Also, she mixed things up with her latest project ‘Shotgun Wedding’. So in which she took on more action sequences. ‘The Mother’ in which she plays a former assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her daughter. Also, Jennifer says she enjoys the thrill of playing a tough character on screen.

{I wish I had gotten] these types of roles that I’m getting now, funnily enough. When I was a little bit more, you know, spry. But a little bit, you know, younger … [They are] kind of empowering, and it makes me feel strong and good. And it was great.”

She went on to explain that movie bosses decided to carefully plan out the fight scenes for ‘The Mother’.So Jennifer could use her time more efficiently.

In the upcoming Netflix film, the actress portrays “a deadly female assassin”. She will do anything to save her daughter “while on the run from dangerous men,” as per the official synopsis.

For the role, Lopez, 53, took on a great amount of physical training. Including weapon training and fight training. As well as learning how to ride a motorcycle and a snowmobile. More specifically, Lopez shared how she “loved doing the training.”

“I’m in good physical shape and I got in better physical shape for this movie,” she told Hoffman. “I had to learn all the choreographed fights and did them on my own.

Lopez gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at herself on the set of the upcoming action/thriller. The video features intense footage of Lopez’s fight training. Also, there is a clip of her learning how to use a gun.

“Jennifer was the only person on the planet who could play [this role] because she can do it all,” producer Marc Evans is heard saying in the clip.
