Flood Kills 13-year-old Pupil In Edo State

Idumu Ague primary school in Uromi, Esan north-east in Edo state has lost a 13-year-old pupil known as Egbadon Overcome who met her untimely death as a result of heavy flood on her way to school. Egbadon was a primary 3 student of that school who on her way to school was swept by the heavy downpour as told by a witness. The body of the deceased has since been evacuated by authorities of the Federal Road Safety Corps. The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board had this to say " the board regrets to announce the unfortunate death of Egbadon Overcome, a 13-year-old primary 3 pupil of Idumu Ague Primary School, in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State,"- Dr.Oviawe This may be unconnected to drainage blockage but the Edo state government had earlier called on the residents of the state to clear refuse littered on their drainage.

There are many reasons for the upsurge of floods in Edo state as some residents believed it may be due to climate change while others believe its lack of drainage. However, whatever the cause may be Our heart goes to the family of the deceased and may Almighty God give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
