The Immortals of Meluha is a journey of a man becoming the destroyer of evils. Shiva lives at Mount Kailash with his tribe, but their rivalry with Pakratis, forced them to migrate a place called Meluha. It is considered as the heaven and peaceful society. The people are followers of Lord Ram and called Suryavanshis. The Meluhans are looking for a person who will become their messiah and save them from their arch enemies Chandravanshis.
Shiva destined to be that person, to become the Neelkanth, but he will not believe in prophecies or think that he is the right person to do the job. His past somehow stops him to acknowledge his reality. Shiva falls in love with Sati, the daughter of Emperor Daksha, which leads him to break age-old traditions of Vikrama people (who are punished in this birth for the sins of their previous birth). For Shiva, everything is overwhelming, and the expectations of Suryavanshis are too much for him, but his friends helped him to see the truth. They are ready to die for their Neelkanth.
The growing terrorist attacks by Nagas and Chandravanshis will lead the Meluha's emperor Daksha to declare the war. Shiva leads the army, but what will happen when the destroyer of evil realizes his mistakes. The importance of knowing another person's side is crucial. The feeling of vengeance will lead him to his journey, but his destination is far away.
The story is a perfect blend of modern day technologies and the Hindu mythological legends. Every character is described well and in an informative manner. Whether it is a war sequence or a simple conversation, Amish's writing hooked the readers, but I feel there is a lack of suspense. The narrations are explicit as well as the language. In his debut book, Amish Tripathi creates a world of fantasy which includes topics like corruption, caste system, unnecessary laws, and enters directly into the heart of the readers. I definitely recommend this book, if you're a mythological fan, don't miss out this book.
