Episode 5

In the 5th episode of “The Escape of the Seven" season 2, Ki-tak takes Do-hyuk outside after he’s been stuck inside for a while. Do-hyuk feels bad for Mo-ne because he understands her sadness from when his own mom passed away. He admits he wasn’t the best son and sees that Mo-ne is acting out just like he did. They decide to sneak into K’s place to get into LUCA’s computer system while K is busy at Mo-ne’s engagement party. At the same time, K is at Mo-ne and Chan-sung’s wedding party, where Mo-ne and Chan-sung trick La-hui to make K upset with her. K then tells La-hui to fix things with Mo-ne because she’s important to his plans.

Chan-sung takes Mo-ne to a river to remember her mom, and Mo-ne vows to avenge her death. Meanwhile, Do-hyuk and Ki-tak get into LUCA’s system using a special key and block K. Do-hyuk finds old videos of Da-mi talking about Medusa, which gives him a hint about a mystery caller. He shares this with Ki-tak, and they try to figure out who Medusa could be, thinking Da-mi’s adoptive mom might still be alive.

Mo-ne goes to Save’s office pretending to bring breakfast for Chan-sung but really to steal his key card. She makes a deal with K to take Save’s security software, and in return, K gives her a deadly drink to use on La-hui. Do-hyuk, who’s also at Save’s office, confronts Chan-sung about being Medusa, but Chan-sung pretends he doesn’t know anything even though he emails Medusa later.

Do-hyuk bumps into Mo-ne and tries to talk to her about her mom, but she brushes him off. Elsewhere, Ki-tak and Mi-young make a fake deal using Lee Hwi-so’s fingerprints, while Do-hyuk uses those same fingerprints to take all of K’s money. Mi-young then angrily tells K she knows he’s Jun-seok, the man who killed her brother.

K, feeling trapped, tells Mo-ne to get Save’s security software no matter what. So, Mo-ne sneaks into Save’s server room that night with Chan-sung’s key card. Chan-sung finds out but lets Mo-ne think she’s stealing the software on her own.

K is thrilled to get into the software and finds out where Lee Hwi-so might be. He sends his team to find him, but the last place they check is a children’s home office where they run into Do-hyuk. Do-hyuk and his friends plan to delete the database, and he tells K and Ju-ran to stop looking for someone who doesn’t exist. He was lost in the blast, and they need to chase him down.

After a successful job at Save, Mo-ne gets home and sees La-hui there. She sticks to her plan to get rid of her by giving her a poisoned drink. La-hui acts like she’s affected, then mocks Mo-ne for being fooled. Mo-ne thought K was helping her, but it turns out the poison was La-hui’s trick. At the same time, Do-hyuk starts to believe Da-mi’s adoptive mom is still around when he learns that a woman with a limp visits her grave every night to leave decorations.

K can’t believe he’s been tricked by Do-hyuk all this time and is curious about what he can do. He remembers something and goes to LUCA’s main room. He finds a briefcase that plays a recording of Do-hyuk talking in LUCA. The recording mentions Jin-mo, and we see his house.

Ha-na is at home, upset, looking at a picture of her grandma. Myoung-ji comes back and talks about her acting work. She calls the kids for a snack and gets a text to meet at Mathew’s place for a movie. Meanwhile, Do-hyuk gets a text from Medusa to meet up, and he and Ki-tak rush to their car to wait.

K’s helpers get to his theater and find out they’re going to watch a movie where K tries to get rid of Ki-tak and Do-hyuk by messing with their car. Do-hyuk and Ki-tak are relaxed as they drive to see Medusa, but then things go crazy. K has fun scaring Do-hyuk and Ki-tak before leading them to a road that spells doom. His helpers are shocked by K’s crazy laughter as he tries to hurt them.

La-hui can’t just stand by, so she causes a commotion with smoke and gets the car back under control just in time, helping Ki-tak and Do-hyuk get away. K is angry and wants to find the traitor in his group, sure that Medusa is one of them.

I didn’t like how Do-hyuk seemed lost and too trusting in the first season, and it’s frustrating to see it again. He’s quick to trust anyone who offers help, even though he’s smart enough to deal with K himself. Do-hyuk is really smart, and K is just a clumsy villain. I hope Do-hyuk discovers more about what he can do this season.

It’s sad to see him so obsessed with finding Medusa when he had his own plan. Why isn’t he following it instead of listening to a voice in his head? Also, La-hui seems to have control over Chan-sung, which takes away some excitement since he’s supposed to be very capable. It would be more interesting if Do-hyuk knew Medusa was La-hui and they teamed up against K. Does Chan-sung know that Chairman Mathew is Jun-seok? And why did he just hand over Save’s security program to Mo-ne?

Episode 6

Before we dive into episode 6, let’s quickly recap the ending of episode 5.

Do-hyuk and Ki-tak sneak into Matthew’s secret room, insert the USB given by Lee Hwi-so, and witness the truth about LUCA. Do-hyuk orders LUCA to transfer all of Hwi-so’s information, which is actually Matthew’s, to his server.

Money and stocks start disappearing from Matthew’s account, and he ends up buying a hundred billion worth of S-stock for two trillion. Mi-young shows a contract with Matthew’s, soon to be revealed as Hwi-so’s, fingerprints on it and slaps him, accusing him of killing her parents. She claims a breach of contract fee of one trillion.

Mo-ne, following Matthew’s orders to extract Save’s security program, gets caught by Chan-sung. Chan-sung copies the security program and gives it to Mo-ne, telling her to claim she stole it.

Mo-ne, who received a poison from Matthew that kills within a minute, spikes La-hee’s drink with it. La-hee pretends to die after drinking it, then opens her eyes and mocks Mo-ne, saying, “Did you really think you won? Matthew doesn’t spare traitors. Your life is in my hands,” and taunts her.

Matthew, realizing that Do-hyuk and Ki-tak, who have accessed LUCA, are getting Medusa’s information, tries to drop their car from an overpass like a VR game. La-hee creates fog, hits the emergency bell, logs in as Medusa to unlock the system, and saves Do-hyuk and Ki-tak from falling at the last moment. Matthew shouts, “One of you is Medusa! Who is it? Find out!”

Now, let’s start the review of episode 6 of the drama “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection.”

Matthew, making the six villains kneel and shooting at them, screams, “Who is Medusa? Find Medusa, and I’ll spare you!”

La-hee looks at Mo-ne and wonders, “Who among us wants to take revenge on me and Matthew the most? If I were Medusa, you’d be dead already, Mo-ne.”

Matthew tells Mo-ne, “Medusa contacted Min Do-hyuk through the Save server.”

The villains, suspecting Chan-sung and Mo-ne again, are instructed by Matthew to find out if Chan-sung is Medusa or an accomplice.

“If Hwang Chan-sung is Medusa, then?” asks Mo-ne.

“Obviously, we have to kill him,” replies Matthew.

Do-hyuk and Ki-tak ask Chan-sung why he helped them. Chan-sung reveals that he believed Shim Yong’s words and analyzed Save’s big data to discover that Matthew isn't Lee Hwi-so but K. He also mentions that he was once victimized by K and suggests they collaborate since they share the same goal. “You know the secret key to LUCA, right? Let’s fight Matthew together.”

Ju-ran’s ex-husband, who made money in Dubai, returns the 2 billion he previously stole to her bank account and suggests they get back together. However, Ju-ran suspects it’s a trick and throws the bankbook back at him. Her ex-husband, who came to invest in the Gagok District, tells her to contact him before he leaves for Dubai.

Cheol-woo meets Matthew for a fingerprint analysis case and proposes to Ju-ran in the elevator on his way back. Ju-ran, planning to leave Korea, rejects the proposal, saying, “Forget about someone bad like me,” and leaves in tears.

Later, Cheol-woo tries several times to win back Ju-ran’s heart, but she rejects him every time. Frustrated, Cheol-woo turns back to drugs.

In the past, La-hee smuggles in Ju-ran’s ex-husband, who is wanted by Interpol, and offers him 1 billion to steal all of Ju-ran’s assets. In the present, La-hee calls to tell him to get ready as Ju-ran is on the rise. The ex-husband tells Ju-ran not to invest in the Gagok District because he can triple her money, but he doesn’t want to be involved with her financially.

Ju-ran liquidates all her assets and borrows money from loan sharks to raise 30 billion. Ju-ran brings the 30 billion to invest, asking her ex-husband to triple it. He suggests they have a party, and Ju-ran goes to the bathroom. However, La-hee sends loan sharks to steal the 30 billion.

Do-hyuk and Ki-tak watch as Chan-sung searches but fails to find something. They conclude that Chan-sung is after the USB given by Hwi-so and that he has some ulterior motive with Mo-ne. Min Do-hyuk goes to meet Mo-ne.

Meanwhile, when Ju-ran comes out of the bathroom, the 30 billion and her ex-husband are gone. She realizes that this was all a scheme orchestrated by Geum La-hee. Cheol-woo is arrested for drug use.

Do-hyuk visits Mo-ne and warns her that Chan-sung is dangerous, but Mo-ne blames Do-hyuk for her mother’s death. Do-hyuk hands her a letter from Yoon Ji-sook, stating she will leave alone for the sake of Hanna and Mo-ne.

Chan-sung coldly lays down two rules for the late-arriving Mo-ne:

  1. No lying.
  2. Don’t meet Min Do-hyuk.

Chan-sung interrogates her about who she met. Unable to speak, Mo-ne is questioned by Chan-sung about why she met Do-hyuk.

“Did you follow me?” Mo-ne asks, and Chan-sung slaps her.

Chan-sung grabs Mo-ne’s hair as she tries to run away. At that moment, Do-hyuk enters and knocks down Chan-sung.

Ki-tak, dodging a car, sees La-hee’s prosthetic leg and yells, “You’re Medusa, aren’t you? Why did you approach Do-hyuk!”

La-hee watches a video sent by Da-mi to her foster parents. Da-mi says she was a good mother. La-hee, with tears streaming down her face, slaps herself and vows revenge. “You don’t deserve to cry! You don’t deserve to live or die!”
