Stitch Fix Review #10

Stitch Fix Review #10!  If you’re not familiar with the service, Stitch Fix is a styling service where you fill out a profile and a stylist chooses five pieces (clothes, shoes, accessories) to send your way for a $20 styling fee.  If you keep anything from your fix your $20 fee is applied as a credit and if you keep all five things, you receive a 25% discount on your whole fix.  You have three business days to make your choices and anything you don’t like gets popped into a prepaid envelope and dropped into the mail.  Basically Stitch Fix is a mail order personal shopper. I was riding high on my last 5/5 fix and really looking forward to this one.  I kept my same stylist and my only request was a casual romper.  I had great luck last year with a dressy romper but wanted something that was less date night and more fair and festival scene.  Only instructions: nothing that requires a strapless bra.  I’ve committed to never wearing one again, and that’s a promise I want to keep to myself.  Here are the picks!

Stitch Fix Piece #1 Skies Are Blue Cora Embroidered Button Detail Romper

Initial Thoughts:  Umm, so what?  If the one thing I want is to not have the romper need a strapless bra, then why was this picked?!  Plus, I’m getting away from any boho look and really like something preppier.

The Try-On: The fit ended up being really cute, but I’m not going to own a summer romper I have to wear with a jacket.  That look would fly about two days out of the year in Illinois.

The Verdict:  Returned!

Stitch Fix Piece #2 Lux & Co Brooke 2fer Knit Maxi Dress

Initial Thoughts: Maxi dresses look so good on so many people, but I am just not one of them.  I want to look cool and flowy and on the way to the beach, but usually look like a roll of toilet paper wearing a fancy cover.

The Try-On:  The fit really surprised me!  I liked where the waist hit and the mixed patterns really worked.  That being said, it’s just outside out of my normal look and I couldn’t commit.

The Verdict: Returned

Stitch Fix Piece #3 Pale Sky Nye Crochet Trim Embroidery Top

Initial Thoughts: I do love a flowy top and I always want to opt-in on a crisp navy.  But like I said, I just  don’t think I can rock a boho vibe and this definitely has that.

The Try-On: Cute, but I’m a real snob after that last 5/5 and I liked it but didn’t love it.

The Verdict: Returned

Stitch Fix Piece #4 Market & Spruce Vreelan Side Knot Knit Top

Initial Thoughts:  Remember how black looks good on everyone … but me?  I do.   I want to be like cool, effortless NYC chic, but even in the height of summer, I’m still channeling a bit of a vampire vibe.

The Try-On: Whelmed!  Not overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just whelmed.  Whelmed just can’t make the cut.

The Verdict: Returned

Stitch Fix Piece #5 Margaret M Lea Printed Short

Initial Thoughts:  Oh I love a stretchy short.  This looked like a great rise with a tailored fit with an interesting pattern but still a solid.

The Try-On: The fit was great — good rise, and the perfect amount of stretch.  Something that happens when Stitch Fix nails it too much:  due to the fact that I am such a stretchy shorts lover, they are really similar to a pair that I already own.

The Verdict: Returned

I get real snooty after a 5/5 and just want to be completely wowed.  Probably best for the budget though!  I’ll be back next month for another Stitch Fix review or you can catch my past reviews here.  What’s on your list for summer pieces?  Tell me in the comments!
