Few Rare and Valuable Diamond Colors

Tags: diamond

A value of a Diamond does not only depend on its color but also on other factors such as the carat weight, clarity, and cut. Each of the 4 C’s influences a diamond’s value. But certain colors of diamonds are more valuable than the others. Each diamond color has its own advantage, a unique shade and set of characteristics, but those gemstones have two things in common, a marvelous appearance, and a remarkable rarity.

The huge mass of diamonds mined throughout the world is considered colorless, even if they contain a trace of color yellow. Only 1 out of every 10,000 carats mined are colored and these are known as fancy diamonds.

Diamonds are valued around the world on how rare they are. A gem-quality diamond is considered one of the rarest items found in nature. Of all the fancy colored diamonds, one color, in particular, is especially rare, it is the predominantly red diamond. “Predominantly” as what it is called because there is no other secondary hue, its primary color is red. The two of the most popular red diamonds ever sold is the Hancock Red Diamond and the Moussaieff Red. The value of these two most popular diamonds today could be extremely high.

Blue is considered the second rarest fancy colored diamond. But there are a number of disagreements whether Pink or Blue Diamonds is the second rarest. However, there are claims that there are more Pink Diamonds available in the market. Although we must be aware that not all blue diamonds are equally rare. The bluer the diamond, the rarer it is. The two of the most popular Blue Diamonds are the Hope Diamond and the Wittelsbach Graff.

Pink diamonds hold the second highest market demand. Pink Diamonds are known not only for their fabulously feminine look and passionate color. These diamonds also have their ability for a very good investment. Pink Fancy Diamonds can only be compared to Yellow Fancy Diamonds. But this diamond color is more preferred by women due to their vibrancy and romantic charm. The most popular Pink Diamonds are the Graff Pink, Steinmetz Pink, and the Perfect Pink.

Orange Fancy Colored Diamonds are among the most beautiful fancy diamonds in the world. Diamond enthusiasts and collectors fully understand the nature of these diamonds and they won’t think twice to buy one. Orange diamonds may have a low demand on the market, but diamond specialists know their true worth. The most famous orange colored diamond is the Pumpkin Orange. One of the advantages of colored diamonds is that no single gemstone is superior to the other. It is merely which colors most prefer. Orange fancy diamonds are an extremely rare diamond color and gorgeous, only they happen to have a low demand in the diamond market.

A Green fancy colored diamond is also considered a rare diamond. Opposite to other colors, most green diamonds enhance their color that it is almost impossible to identify if any type of artificial enhancement was done on a specific green diamond. Therefore, most jewelry cutters leave an untouched natural color along the gemstone’s girdle. This is considered acceptable due to the fact that it does not reduce the clarity grade of the diamond. The most popular green diamonds are the Ocean Dream and the Dresden Green Diamond.

A diamond’s true value isn’t necessarily based on their market price, especially that a diamond’s value can change over time. Their real value depends on how much it is worth to its owner. Thus, you cannot really put a price on the sentimental value of a diamond.
