Terrifying footage shows axe-wielding driver in road rage incident

Terrifying dashcam footage of a Road Rage Incident where an axe-wielding driver chases a vehicle on the NSW North Coast has emerged.

The driver, armed with an axe, tried to run a young driver off the road on the M1 near Byron Bay last year.

The driver of a Holden hatchback can be seen swerving across the highway while waving an axe out the window.

The driver of the Mercedes tries to escape by taking an exit on the motorway to Byron Bay, heading towards the police station.

As the two vehicles leave the motorway, they approach a roundabout where the Holden driver rams into the Mercedes twice.

The Holden vehicle then loses control and runs off the road.

What sparked the road Rage Incident is not known.

The driver of the hatchback, a 47-year-old man, pleaded guilty to predatory driving and being armed with intent.

He was sentenced to two years in jail.
