Milan fight back to beat promoted Cagliari 3-1

AC Milan secured a 3-1 victory against Cagliari in Serie A, with Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek scoring for the English duo. The match saw Milan fight back after falling behind, with Noah Okafor equalizing in the first half. This win moved Milan up to second place with 15 points, level with leaders Inter Milan. Cagliari, on the other hand, remain at the bottom of the table with only two points.

Despite conceding the opener, Milan dominated much of the first half, with Tijani Reijnders coming close to scoring early on. Stefano Pioli, Milan’s coach, acknowledged their missed opportunities but praised their ability to turn the game around with their principles.

Cagliari surprised the home crowd when Zito Luvumbo scored a left-footed rocket from a tight angle. However, Milan quickly equalized when Okafor tapped in a rebounded ball. Tomori then scored from point-blank range, giving Milan the lead. Loftus-Cheek came close to securing Milan’s third goal, but Cagliari’s goalkeeper denied his attempt. However, Loftus-Cheek ultimately shattered any hope for Cagliari with a powerful strike from 25 meters out.

Loftus-Cheek expressed his happiness with the win and emphasized the importance of mentality in their comeback. Milan’s goalkeeper, Marco Sportiello, denied Cagliari a consolation goal in the final minutes. Milan’s next matches include a Serie A game against Lazio and a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

Overall, Milan’s victory showcased their ability to overcome setbacks and highlighted the importance of their mentality.
