Maserati Levante – The Maserati of SUVs

Maserati has always named its cars after famous winds. The new Maserati Levante is true to its name as the car has good top speed. It also has a luxurious body, which adds to its beauty. Let us review the specs and features of the SUV in detail.

Pricing and Release Date:

Maserati displayed the car at the 2019 Geneva Motor show held in March. The car has exceeded many of our expectations.

Regarding the pricing, there are four different kinds of Levante models in the market. These are:

  • Base: $77,500
  • S: $88,500
  • GTS: $121,500
  • Trofeo: $171,500

Out of these four, you should choose the Levante S. Although it is expensive, it has a strong V-6 engine, which provides strong acceleration. Some additional features also justify the high-end price, like a panoramic sunroof and 19-inch wheels.

Engine and Performance:

Although Levante isn’t the quickest luxury crossover SUV, it has amazing engine features. The Levante acceleration is quite good. It has a twin turbo V6 engine with 424 horsepower. The car also has an eight-speed automatic transmission. It reaches from zero to 60 mph in 5 seconds. The GTS and Trofeo models have a V8 engine, which makes their horsepower close to 600. So, the GTS reaches to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds.

Levante has a set of adaptive shock sets, which help in smooth driving. Therefore, it is perfect for driving on uneven surfaces. The comfort level is quite satisfying. The air suspension of the car is finely tuned and does a good job of transforming the car into an athletic SUV.

On first glance, it seems that a car with such a heavy body and tall proportions will have some body weight on the corners and this would decrease the speed. However, the car has a hydraulic assisted steering, which is light-weighted. It gives the car agility.

Fuel economy:

Levante is not a fuel-thirsty car. Its EPA estimates are more competitive with the V8 engines than V6 engines. The V6 model has an amazing fuel-economy and its fuel average is 24 mpg. On the other hand, the V-8 GTS delivers around 20 mpg.

Interior:

Five healthy people can sit comfortably inside the Levante. The front seats are amazing with top-notch leather. There are also 12 power adjustments, which help you to find the right seating position. The back seat can handle three adults with 6 feet or more. The rear seats in the Levante have a set of lower anchors and an upper tether.

The high-quality touches in Levante include wood inlays, luxurious leather seats, and accents in matte carbon fiber. However, the buttons and switches are quite ordinary.

Levante has a 20 cubic foot cargo space. This makes it one of the smallest cabin space SUVs. On the other hand, the BMW X5 has a cabin space of 34 cubic feet. A pass-through is helpful in carrying skis, and the 60:40 split of the rear seats, create space for larger items. The hands-free power liftgate lifts the back when your hands are occupied.

The Levante infotainment comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The car has additional buttons, present under the touchscreen display and the steering wheel. You can easily navigate the interface because it has a high platform, like Chrysler or Dodge. The car features Apple Carplay and Android Auto. You can also hear premium sounds from Bower & Wilkins and Harman Kardon.

Safety:

Maserati hasn’t administered any crash tests on Levante. The main reason is that the company doesn’t consider the crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, as reliable. Maserati hasn’t also undergone crash tests on other Maserati models.

In general, the car is safe for driving. The main safety features of Levante include a standard blind-spot monitoring system, an automated braking system, and standard high beam headlights. The SUV also contains a rearview camera and front and back parking cameras.

Verdict:

The high tech interior and engine features of Maserati Levante make it a unique SUV. You can easily drive the SUV on uneven surfaces. Therefore, if you regularly drive on muddy tracks and hilly areas, you should buy Maserati Levante.
