‘American Horror Story’ Season 8 will be the Highly Anticipated Murder House/Coven Crossover

Yes, AHS fans, it’s officially happening! The characters featured in American Horror Story’s first season, Murder House, will be crossing over with season three’s Coven characters for the show’s eighth season.

Ryan Murphy, showrunner and creator of American Horror Story, took to Twitter to announce the exciting news about the upcoming season, writing “AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER.”

Murphy originally leaked the news of the crossover nearly two years ago in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “There will be characters from Murder House and characters from Coven together,” he announced at EW’s PopFest.

Murphy told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour that the crossover event was going to occur later on in the series. “We’ve already met about it and outlined it,” Murphy said. “But it won’t be next because some of the [cast members] are not available.”

We’re still not sure how the upcoming season will play out. But Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who appeared in both Murder House and Coven, will be returning for the crossover season. Kathy Bates, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman are also confirmed for season 8 of the show.

Murphy announced at a panel with the cast members in April that Paulson will play a hairstylist, and that “Dynasty” actress Joan Collins will be playing Even Peters’ grandmother. The creator also teased that season 8 would be “fantasy-inspired” and “heightened.” The season will be set in the future, around October 2019.

The main question on many fans’ minds, however, is whether or not infamous Jessica Lange will return to the show. The AHS alum hasn’t been on the show since season four. Her roles of Constance Langdon and Fiona Goode in two fan-favorite seasons are too good to not be featured in the crossover. Hopefully, the major crossover event will get her to change her mind.

Murphy recently told Entertainment Weekly that this upcoming season would feature many returning fan favorites, before announcing the long-awaited crossover. “You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat,” Murphy said. “It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode 5.”

With that said, September can’t come fast enough! It’s definitely time for us to binge watch seasons one and three before the show comes back to FX.

There’s no set premiere date as of yet, but we’re assuming it will follow suit with past seasons and start in September.

Are you excited for the crossover event?
