Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady's charity, to which the supermodel said 'my life is devoted', was in an uncomfortable spotlight on Thursday as it emerged that the $700 million former power couple only contributed minuscule sums to its work.

Bundchen, 42, and Brady, 45, were granted a divorce on October 28, after 13 years of marriage.

Their split was said to be efficient, as the pair had signed a meticulously-prepared pre-nup, which avoided any public fighting over their property empire or Custody of their two children.

But the divorce also sparked interest in their charity - and led to the revelation that less than 0.09 percent of their wealth was directed towards the foundation.

The Brazilian-born supermodel founded the Luz Foundation in 2007, saying it was to provide grants and support to young girls.

'My life is devoted to this,' she said, in a 2015 interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.

'I know from the outside that people think: 'This girl just poses for pictures.'

'But in my head, I'm thinking the whole time: 'Okay, if I take this job, then I can have more money to put into this.'

'So that's what I'm doing, because that's [why] God gave me to do what I can do, right?'

The group, which is based in Long Island, received its IRS tax exempt status three years later.

Yet in the first 12 years of the charity - during which time Bundchen was the face of Chanel Number 5, Givenchy and Versace - the Luz Foundation gave out a total of $640,402 to various groups.

The figure translates to 0.083 per cent of the couple's combined net worth.

Bundchen ran the charity with Brady and Peter Mattoon, a financier who helps Brady with his investments.

And despite Bundchen declaring the charity to be her calling in life, the sums it distributed were, for people of their wealth, remarkably small.

Three hundred dollars was donated in 2018 to an environmental charity in Costa Rica, the Waterkeeper Nicoya Peninsula, where the pair have a home. 

Bundchen is believed to have kept the property under their divorce agreement.

The gift was not even mentioned in Waterkeeper's list of donors, and neither Bundchen, Brady nor the foundation listed as supporters.

The same year, $900 was given to the World Wildlife Fund and $1,000 to the Challenged Athletes Foundation, a charity that helps people with physical disabilities, according to tax filings obtained by The New York Post.

In 2014, Bundchen was on the board of directors for the Rainforest Alliance, and the foundation made contributions.

In 2014, they gave $48,000 to the alliance, and $25,000 the following year.

Groups involved in yoga and meditation were often recognized.

In 2017, $25,000 was given to the David Lynch Foundation, a New York-based group which promotes meditation and yoga in schools.

The Massachusetts-based You Go Girl Yoga, received $25,000 that year.

The most recent tax filing, from 2019, showed $80,000 of its $350,000 budget being given to the Pointing Out the Great Way Foundation, a Massachusetts-based charity that promotes Indo-Tibetan meditation.

Bundchen has not commented on the donations.

Gisele has now starred in more than 550 ad campaigns, posed for 2,000 magazine covers, and walked in 800 fashion shows, while Tom has played 22 seasons in the NFL, helping his teams win seven Super Bowl titles and breaking numerous records along the way. 

Together, the pair amassed a staggering fortune - even as Gisele put her fashion career on the backburner in order to support her husband's quest for continued Super Bowl glory - and today, amid their split, they are estimated to be worth a combined $733 million.

Interestingly, while Tom's career is still ongoing, it's estimated that Gisele is worth more than her husband, with the supermodel's net worth reported at $400 million and the athlete's at $333 million.

While the couple's divorce confirmation has finally answered several lingering questions about the status of their marriage - it has also raised fresh intrigue over how they will divide their massive fortune, including their $26 million+ property portfolio, and who will get custody of their two children.

In a statement posted to Instagram, the athlete called his and Gisele's decision to end their relationship 'painful,' but vowed to put their kids first so that they 'receive the love and attention they deserve.'

'In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage,' he wrote. 'We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. 

'We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.

'We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world.

'However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.' 

Gisele added in a post of her own: 'My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart.

'We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care, and attention they greatly deserve. The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart. It is, of course, difficult to go through something like this.'

The supermodel concluded by stating that she 'wished' her ex 'the best,' and said she was 'blessed' for the 'time they had together.'

Before getting married, both Tom and Gisele had already launched major careers for themselves, with Gisele working as a successful model and Tom becoming one of the most acclaimed footballers in the country.

Born in Brazil, Gisele was discovered by Elite Model Management at a shopping mall when she was just 13; the company then invited her to compete in its Elite Model Look contest, where she came in second place.

The fashion icon made her modeling debut at New York Fashion week in 1996, but for two years after that she struggled to book another job. 

However, her lucky break came in 1998 when she was cast in an Alexander McQueen runway show. Following that, she was propelled into stardom practically over night, and went on to star in campaigns for Dolce & Gabanna, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Versace, and walk the catwalk for Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Christian Dior, more big brands all within three years.

In 2002, he re-signed with team in a $30.5 million five-year contract, and in 2005, he signed another six-year contract with the Patriots worth $60 million. 

In 2006, while Gisele's work as a model was coming in fast and Tom was soaring in the NFL, the two started dating after they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend; and neither of their careers slowed down once they got together.

The former couple got married in 2009 during an intimate ceremony in Santa Monica, California, before they jetted off to Costa Rica to celebrate with a lavish party attended by a slew of famous faces.

On top of all that, Tom landed a broadcasting deal with Fox Sports back in May, which will reportedly make him $375 million of a span of 10 years.

Tom and Gisele's expansive property portfolio: A look at their stunning four mansions, including $17 million estate in Miami that was in the midst of being rebuilt 

Together, the former couple own numerous properties across the country - including a $3.6 million apartment in New York City, a $17 million mansion located on Miami's Indian Creek Island, a lavish estate in Yellowstone, Montana, that's reportedly worth $5.7 million, and a stunning home in Costa Rica.

Two years before going their separate ways, Tom and Gisele purchased a 5,772-square-foot home on Indian Creek Island, and tore it down - with plans to build a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly mansion in its place, forking out an additional $10.12 million in construction costs.

The island - less than half a square mile in size and only accessible by a single, guarded bridge - has been a magnet for billionaires, celebrities, and power couples who've sought it out because it its privacy and security, as it is protected by a private police force that patrols the community around-the-clock by foot, sky, and land.

The 300-acre island is occupied by just 34 lots with a median value of $20million, according to reports. Nestled along Biscayne Bay, it's considered one of the safest and wealthiest enclaves in the nation. 

Each home on Indian Creek is built around the perimeter of the island to ensure all residents have a waterfront view. An exclusive country club - complete with a golf course - sits in the middle of the community. 

The house was meant to be the family's forever home, and once construction was complete, they were going to be neighbors with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, hotel magnate Jeffrey Soffer, and billionaire investor Carl Icahn.

It's unclear what's going to come of the home now, but construction has not been halted amid the split, as DailyMail.com obtained exclusive photos that showed workers continuing to work on the mega mansion last month.

The 1.8-acre property encompasses three buildings - a main house, a security post, and a gym. Floor plans of the main home obtained by the Post show that it will span across an enormous 17,000-square-feet, and include five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, along with an elevator, a movie theatre, and a guest suite. 

It is also set to ironically include his-and-hers bathroom suites, which may never get to be used by both, as well as an organic garden, a pickleball court, yoga terrace, and three kitchens - a prep kitchen, main kitchen, and outdoor kitchen.

As for their Manhattan condo, located at 70 Vestry Street in Tribeca, not much is known about it. The pair originally owned two units in the building, but they reportedly sold one - a five-bedroom apartment with a 1,900-square-foot terrace - for $37 million in early 2021, and kept the other, which is said to be slightly smaller.

And while it is not known who will take ownership of Tom and Gisele's many properties, it recently came to light that Gisele had purchased a home on her own back in February.

According to records obtained by the Post, she quietly bought a 1,540-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom house near Miami Beach for $1.25 million via an LLC.

The 'art deco-style cottage' boasts an open kitchen with a marble island and breakfast bar, as well a sprawling living room, spacious outdoor patio, and large back yard. She reportedly requested permission to remodel the property over the summer.  

The fate of Tom and Gisele's two children: Florida law used to favor mothers in custody hearings but is now dedicated to ending 'bias against gender' 

Together, Tom and Gisele welcomed two children over the years - Benjamin Brady, now 12, and Vivian Lake Brady, now nine - so who will get custody of the kids? 

For many years, Florida used something known as the 'tender years' doctrine, which is a belief that the mother should have custody of her children during their 'tender years.' 

This resulted in 91 per cent of custody cases favoring the mother.

However, in 2020, the state replaced the doctrine with a new law that said children must have 'frequent and continuing contact' with both parents.

'The 2020 law is not biased against any gender, nor does it recommend any specific timesharing schedule for the mother or father when awarding child custody,' Donna Hung Law reported.

'In fact, Florida’s state law prohibits any form of gender bias in custody cases. Also, it has become challenging for one parent to be awarded sole custody.'

FLDivorce.com also reported that a number of things are considered during a Florida custody hearing, including, 'Which parent is able to promote a better relationship between the child and noncustodial parent, the amount of time each parent spent with the child prior to the divorce, the amount of time each parent will be able to spend with the child after the divorce, where each parent will live and how that will affect the child’s development, any special needs or care the child may need, and the ability of each parent to provide that to the child, and what is in the general best interest of the child.'

Throughout their 13-year-long marriage, Gisele took on the stepmom role to Tom's son from his previous marriage to Bridget Moynahan, now-15-year-old John Edward Thomas Moynahan, and was often seen spending time with the teen; but since he was never legally adopted by Gisele and has no blood relation to her, he is not involved in the custody case.
