Welcome to the weekend! New music and new music videos just dropped from a few of your faves.
It’s been awhile since SZA released new music, but she assured her fans a new "SZA era" is upon us.
”Shirt” was released alongside a new music video directed by Dave Meyers that depicted SZA and “Atlanta” star LaKeith Stanfield (who recently went public with his real-life girlfriend) as a couple on in an insane crime spree with references to everything from the 1971 film Shaft to genre classics like Bonnie and Clyde from 1967.
The video follows the stars as they commit heinous murders and wreak havoc on their hometown, and both the song and the video make references to other films, such as 2001's Save the Last Dance.
"I’m not Julia Stiles, and this isn't 'Last Dance’,” SZA sings.

SZA's new song is about feeling lost in a relationship that has become complicated. She opens up about her uneasy feelings about love and questions whether the situation is ideal. “Shirt” is the third time SZA collaborated with Dave Meyers. They previously collaborated on visuals for her 2017 song "Drew Barrymore" and 2018's "All The Stars," which featured Kendrick Lamar and served as the theme song for the first Black Panther film. Last year, the award-winning singer collaborated with LaKeith Stanfield on the visualizer for her 2021 single "I Hate U."

In another new video...
After teasing the visuals, Rihanna dropped the music video for her newly released song, "Lift Me Up," which is the lead single for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
“Lift Me Up” is a special tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who starred as Wakanda’s leader, Black Panther/King T’Challa. Sadly, Chadwick passed away in 2020 at the age of 43 after a private, four-year battle with colon cancer.
The song was written by Rihanna, Tems, producer Ludwig Göransson and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler. "Lift Me Up" was recorded in five countries and was produced by Göransson.

Also released today...
Chlöe has finally released her long-awaited song "For the Night," which features Latto.
Before dropping the visuals, the two artists announced the song on Twitter earlier this week, with Chlöe sharing a FaceTime video of the pair.

"I'm so excited. I can't wait for everyone to hear what you did on 'For The Night!'," Chlöe exclaims.
Chlöe first teased the song back in May, along with two other songs, asking her fans to help her decide which would follow her track "Surprise," which was released in June.Chlöe revealed earlier this month that she wrote "For the Night" about Gunna.
“Imma tell y’all a little secret about ‘For The Night,’” she said on Twitter Spaces. “I might regret saying this, but hey, maybe it’ll help f*cking streams. I don’t even think he knows this! I wrote ‘For The Night’ about Gunna.”

As for more new music...
DVSN has returned with more toxic R&B.
Working On My Karma, the fourth studio album from the R&B duo comprised of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85, was just released and the 12-track LP includes appearances from Jagged Edge, who appears on the ballad "What's Up," and Yung Bleu, who appears on the opening track "Last Time," in addition to the lead single "If I Get Caught," which sparked an internet frenzy.
The duo had some heavy-hitting producers behind them on this musical offering, including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael-Cox, Sean Garrett, Boi-1da, and others.
According to a press release, Working On My Karma "is a story about love, regret, and the potential emotions that can arise after acting on ego," with the "R&B sound [fans] know and love with a new twist."
This is the Toronto duo's first project since 2021's Cheers to the Best Memories mixtape with Ty Dolla $ign. Prior to that, they released A Muse In Her Feelings, their second studio album in 2020, which featured Future, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Summer Walker, Snoh Aalegra, and others.
