Queen Elizabeth II's state Funeral — the first the United Kingdom has seen since former Prime Minister Winston Churchill's in 1965 — is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time (6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT) on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Westminster Abbey in London. That's 10 days after she died on Sept. 8 at Balmoral, her summer home in Scotland. Her casket will then travel to Windsor, England, where the queen will be interred inside St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle alongside her beloved parents, sister and husband, Prince Philip. As Britain says its final goodbyes to the woman who ruled for more than 70 years, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at some of the most memorable photos from other British royals' funerals over the last century.

Keep reading to see images from the funerals of Prince Philip, Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother, Wallis Simpson, the Duke of Windsor, King George VI and more…

Five male family members — former father-in-law Prince Philip, son Prince William, brother Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, son Prince Harry and ex-husband Prince Charles — followed Diana's casket on foot past hundreds of thousands of mourners during her funeral procession to Westminster Abbey in London. This remains one of the most haunting and memorable photos from the sad day.
