FOUR people have been Arrested after an Intelligence Led Operation saw cops lock down a street in Hamilton this morning.

Officers were scrambled to the scene in the Quarry Street area of the town around 11.30am.

Worried locals spotted a large police presence around the street.

And several other roads were closed off close to Hamilton Central railway station.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a 36-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were arrested.

Two teenagers, both aged 17, have also been arrested following the incident.

It's not known what sparked the emergency.

Worried onlookers reported several streets in and around Quarry Street had been locked down.

They took to social media to report dozens of squad cars and vans were on the scene.

Cops could be seen standing guard in the area for hours after the incident and an ambulance was also spotted.

And locals spotted a helicopter hovering over the area this afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 24 March, as part of an intelligence led operation, officers arrested two men, aged 36 and 25, and two male youths, both aged 17, in Hamilton.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
