This Week's US Soap Opera Promos (March 14th-18th, 2022)

This week on the US Daytime Soaps...

General Hospital

Not surprised to see Ryan has been faking his Locked-In Syndrome (for a few months at least). Loved the scenes with him and Esme. Good to see Esme officially embrace true villainess self. Though it feels a little too late, she's been on the canvas for over 6 months now and hasn't done much of note (set Ava's car on fire and now this sex tape nonsense). As usual these GH writers don’t seem to know how to properly pace their stories at all. I realize a lot of that is on Frank for having such a bloated cast, all with their own contract guarantees. I can’t imagine it’s easy to balance it all but it really hurts the show.

Speaking of a bloated cast, Brando & Sasha aren’t really needed on the show. They should have let the baby live and have them leave town for a happily ever after. I enjoy Gladys (mostly) but she’s not needed either.

It was nice to see Priscilla Garita (Gabi from “Sunset Beach”) again. I hope we’ll see some more of her before Harmony’s actress returns.

GH Spoilers for the Week

Days of Our Lives

Ugh. I haven’t enjoyed the Gabi character in a long time. I was team Gabi for a long while but ever since just around the Time Jump she’s been thoroughly unlikeable to me. Her pairing with Jake is a bust, as is the Jake character. They never should have killed off Stefan.

I still rather they’d make Craig bisexual as to not completely retroactively trash his and Nancy’s relationship. Curious to see how this storyline will develop nonetheless.

Due to Bergman’s vocal dislike of the Keemo storyline, it’s hard for me to buy into his grief over Keemo’s passing.

The Bold and the Beautiful

A promo to celebrate 35 years of B&B, though I'd argue much of the last 12-ish years aren't worth celebrating with the repetitive, almost episodic stories that seem to reset every few months and lack sufficient stakes, drama and edge.
