12 of Scotland's most magical places as chosen by you

When asked what is it that's most Magical about Scotland, most people will say the breath-taking scenery.

And while that's very true, they won't all agree on the location they find most magical, in fact when we asked you there were so many answers that it was hard work narrowing it down to just 12.

But narrow it down we did, and so we've pulled together the top-voted locations that you, our readers, found to be the most magical.

The shores of Loch Ness

Described by one reader as "hauntingly beautiful", the shores of Loch Ness isn't just the best place to go to try to catch a glimpse of the monster but also the ideal spot to take in some of the most beautiful vistas you'll find in Scotland, if not the world.

Edinburgh

The capital was a hugely popular choice and it's no surprise that the inspiration for Harry Potter would feature so highly in this list.

Dunottar Castle, Aberdeenshire

The first castle on the list and surprisingly, it's not one of the better-known ones, but Donnottar looks like it could have leapt from the pages of a fantasy novel.
