Clifford J. Pimental
Clifford J. Pimental passed away on Aug. 9, 2021, at the age of 69, in Lawa‘i. He was born on July 19, 1952. He was an equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Rose Pimental, brothers Roy Pimental and Macky Pimental, father-in-law Adam Orsatelli, mother-in-law Mildred Orsatelli, brother-in-law Jeffrey Orsatelli and sister-in-law Valerie Camara.
He is survived by wife Deborah Pimental, sons Clifton Pimental and Troy (Hilina‘i) Pimental, daughter Tracy Pimental, grandchildren Kira Pimental, La‘akea Henderson, Kilinoe, Ilikea (Buggie), Po‘okela & Ka la‘e Pimental, brothers Wally (Jerry) Pimental and Joey (Cobina) Pimental, sisters Carol (Tony) Pereira and Laurie Pimental, sister-in-law Linda (Macky) Pimental and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on Friday, Aug. 27, with visitation is at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetary.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Linda Marie Pacheco
Linda Marie Pacheco 73, of Scio, Oregon passed away on Aug. 12, 2021. She was born Dec. 5, 1947 in Lihu‘e and retired as a teacher’s aide at Turner’s Elementary in Oregon.
She was preceded in death by parents Willie “Marion” and Clara Gomes Rapozo of Kaua‘i, her husband of 39 years William “Billy” Pacheco of Scio, Oregon and Kilauea, and sister Veronica “Ronnie” Rapozo of Kaua‘i.
She is survived by son Brandon (Chelsea) Pacheco and daughter Michele (Greg) Clinton, all of Scio, Oregon, twin brother Richard (Evelyn) Rapozo of Dana Point, California, sisters Kathleen Barretto of Kaua‘i and Laure (Richard) Thacker of Covington, Georgia, nephews Daniel (Jocelyn) Barretto and Joshua (Heather) Rapozo, niece Ashley Thacker and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Jordan, Oregon, where her ashes will be laid to rest.
Weddle Funeral Home of Stayton, Oregon assisted the family with arrangements.
Edward Kanahele ‘Eddie Boy’ Kinzie
Edward Kanahele “Eddie Boy” Kinzie of Hilo, Hawai‘i, passed away on July 1, 2021, at the age of 49. He was born on March 22, 1972 on O‘ahu. He was a groundskeeper at Hawai‘i Community College in Hilo, a former cook at the state Department of Public Safety Kulani Correctional Facility in Hilo, a former bouncer at Cilly’s Nite Club on O‘ahu, and former saute cook/broiler cook at John Richards on O‘ahu.
He is survived by fiancé Karen Otsubo, sons Kobie Kinzie and Kedren Kinzie, daughter Kaylyn Otsubo and ‘ohana, all of Hilo, parents Paula Nani (Randy) Silva of Kalaheo and Patrick (Nohea) Kinzie of Anahola, sister Sheri Kinzie of Kalaheo, brothers Pono Kinzie of Hanapepe and Kaimana Kinzie and Keone Kinzie of Anahola, grandmother Damiana (Diane) Vierra of Honolulu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has requested a private celebration of life.
The Rev. Yoshiko Shimabukuro
Yoshiko Shimabukuro, 109, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on July 20, 2021, at Garden Isle Rehabilitation & Healthcare. She was born on Kaua‘i on Dec. 26, 1911, and was a reverend for the ‘Ele‘ele Hongwanji Mission.
She was preceded in death by parents Chokichi and Kame Shimabukuro, siblings Hiroko Itokazu, Chiyoko Shimabukuro, Naeko Kuwaye, Akiko Miyashiro and Fujiko, Kiyoko, Choichi, Choji and Tsuneo Shimabukuro.
She is survived by sister Takeko “Betsy” (Akira) Oyakawa, sisters-in-law Shizuko (Choji-deceased) Shimabukuro and Doris Hanae (Choichi-deceased) Shimabukuro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.
The family requests no koden (money gifts).

Edna Kawamura
Edna Kawamura was born May 25, 1935, and raised on the banks of the Hanapepe River.
She was a fixture at the Hanapepe Bank of Hawai‘i until her retirement in 1990.
In her younger years, she was a loving and nurturing mother who raised three children. She bowled, golfed, helped organize all of her class reunions, and was well known for her baking.
As a senior, she enjoyed volunteering in the community and at the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital gift shop. She served as an officer of the Waimea Senior Center, where she developed lasting friendships.
Known in the family for her spunk, sass and humor, she treasured her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as her grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She died peacefully on Aug. 12, 2021, at home in Waimea, with her family surrounding her. Loved by all who knew her and unforgettable, she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by sister Katie Taguma and brother William Honjiyo.
She is survived by beloved sister Elizabeth Tanita of Pearl City, O‘ahu, son Walter Kawamura of Waimea, daughters Masae Kawamura of Mill Valley, California and Cydney Kawamura of Seattle, and grandchildren Kelcie and Kendra Kawamura and Aki and Koji Gormezano.
A private memorial service will be determined in the near future.
Robert Noboru Fujii
Robert Noboru Fujii, born May 4, 1942 in Lihu‘e, passed away on Aug. 12, 2021, at the age of 79 at Wilcox Medical Center. He was an Army veteran and retired mason.
He was preceded in death by parents Haruki and Masao Fujii.
He is survived by son Eric N. Fujii of Honolulu, daughters Jerrelyn U. Mahiai of Honolulu and Jessica K.M. (Kevin) Carvalho of Lawa‘i, grandchildren Tyler K.M. Carvalho, Taylor K. Carvalho and Tyra Lyn Carvalho, sisters Ellen (Robert – deceased) Sugita of Wailua, Elinor (Willy – deceased) Yasui of Honolulu, Elsie (James) Shimabuku of Honolulu and Susan (Duain) Hill of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Charles Carveiro Jr.
On Aug. 1, 2021, Charles Carveiro Jr., loving son, husband, father and papa, passed away at age 57 with his family by his side in Seattle.
Charles was born on Dec. 18, 1963, in Waimea, to Charles and Claire Carveiro. Charles graduated from Waimea High School in 1981. He then went on to graduate from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He was on the Linfield football team as an offensive lineman, where he became a two-time NAIA national champion. He was inducted into the Linfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004 and inducted to the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. He returned home after graduating and spent 25 years working for the Kaua‘i Community Federal Credit Union. He later went on to work at the Pacific Missile Range Facility. While working at the credit union he met his wife Sheri Mundon Carveiro. They were married Nov. 21, 1990. Ttogether they had three children — two daughters (Kelli and Kasey) and one son (Cory).
His interests included football, rodeo, hunting and fishing, anything outdoors, and having a few cold ones with friends. He was involved for many years with the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association (Koloa, Kekaha, and Hanapepe). Many today still refer to him as “coach.” He was also involved with the Kaua‘i Keiki High School Rodeo Association and Hawai‘i High School Rodeo Association for many years.
Charles was a good man, a loving husband, a caring father, and a great friend. He was known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, big smile and kind heart, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He will be truly missed by many.
