MWC 2018 Day 1 Highlights: Latest News & Updates

The world’s leading companies are all here at MWC in Barcelona, Spain, to showcase their latest innovations from 26 Feb to 1st March 2018. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s show, including the MWC 2018 date, location, and all the best MWC phones from the likes of Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei, Nokia and more.

MWC – better known as Mobile World Congress – is an annual trade show run by the GSMA.  This time MWC2018 has been set-up in ‘Fira Gran Via’ a place in Barcelona, Spain.  The show starts on 26th of February and ends at 1st March 2018, lasting for 4 days.

The trade show is also home to a number of more advanced innovations, including flexible screen, next-generation AI solutions and 5G demonstrations. There are plenty of apps, software, and mobile accessories to showcase.

Sony at MWC 2018

Sony has come up with two elegant new models in the Xperia series naming Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The XperiaXZ2 is a 5.7-Inch phone which is a camera beast embedded with a 19- megapixel camera which can shoot 4K HDR video in HD slow motion. Another one is a compact version of the same phone which holds similar specifications as the previous one except having a display of approx. 5 inches. Also, it came up with Sony’s Xperia Ear Duo’s ear-buds which aims at delivering “dual listening”, in which you can hear the background sounds along with the audio which is helpful for vehicle owners while driving.

What new Samsung came up within MWC 2018?

Samsung was known to launch two extremely beautiful smartphones Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus which was never a secret. But now the phones have been officially launched by Samsung. The S9 versions are quite similar to the S8 with modifications done in the processor and some improvements in the camera, though the S9 version is a stylish purple model. The S9 covers a 5.8-inch screen while S9 plus has a 6.2-inch screen display, which is the major difference between both the mobile siblings.

Nokia at MWC 2018

Nokia came up with five major Launches including an eye-catching launch which is a throwback to the late 1990s. The Nokia 8110, rightly called the banana phone is all set to step in the market this May. Then Nokia, Matrix banana phone is a 4G handset. It is said to have its own application store, but the Android apps do not have accessibility.

Next in line is the Nokia 8 Sirocco with a premium design, wireless charging, and it is meeting the expectations of Nokia’s flagships. Other phones offered by Nokia’s flagship at MWC 2018 is Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 1 which falls in the mid-range price and have fast- charging and more power. Nokia 6 is actually an up-gradation from the past.

Google at MWC 2018

Google will not be unveiling any of its smart devices but the search giant has come up with some modifications in the Google assistant services, which will become bilingual, which will actually respond to other languages, without the users making any change in the settings. The languages preferred by Google assistant will be French, English, and German. Another feature introduced by Google is the walkie-talkie function that would automatically interconnect Google home devices at long distances. We will be hoping to see some awesome launches by Google soon.

Huawei at MWC 2018

Huawei chose the MWC platform to unveil a laptop naming the Matebook X Pro which is a notebook that covers the 14-inch display. The MateBookhas a stand-alone NVIDIA graphics card, up to 16 GB of RAM and holds an Intel Core i7 processor. Apart from the laptop, it introduced 3 tablets in a row, which includes two versions of MediaPad M5, having a difference in the screen display of 8.4 and 10.8 inches. And a second tablet naming of MediaPad M5 Pro aiding by an M-Pen stylus which is highly sensitive. Also, it offers no bezel models.

Also, Huawei has launched its first 5G chip on Sunday. It will allow the mobiles to access the next generation cellular networks. If we believe in the sources it is the first 5G chop that will support the the3GPP standard. Huawei’s 5G chips will offer a next-generation high-speed network for its customers.

Lenovo at MWC 2018

Lenovo hasn’t made any new launches at MWC 2018. It came up with some updates in its range of YOGA laptops and also Moto mods. The Lenovo company introduced the new Yoga 730 which is at 13-inch and 15-inch model along with a 14-inch Yoga 530. We can consider it as a 2-in-1 range. Also, it gave an introduction to Lenovo Chromebooks for its users.

STK at MWC 2018

STK is another not so known company hailing from London. It is a smartphone company that launches its latest luxury device naming STK X2. An Android device that covers a 5.7-inch 

display with HD resolution of 1,440 x 720 and has 4 GB RAM. This is another launch in the MWC conference.

So, these are some launches made by the top mobile and smart device company. All these launches took place on Day 1 at the MWC event. MWC is actually a huge platform for launching some great devices by these companies. People have been witnessing some awesome launches there.
