Omawumi is in her feelings with new album

Nigerian singer, Omawumi’s debut album, ‘Wonder Woman’ clocked 10 years few weeks ago. After that album, she had released two albums, ‘Lasso of Truth’ and ‘Timeless.’

While ‘Wonder Woman’ was probably not as critically acclaimed as its two younger others, it was still a commendable body of work; a needed happenstance that set Omawumi on her path to a good career that she can be proud of.

Last Friday, June 14, 2019, the singer released a new body of work, titled ‘In Her Feelings’, which is her fourth album in 10 years. It was a cross-section of songs that offer an insight into Omawumi’s state of mind onissues of love, politics, personal struggles, life goals, emotional awareness and abuse.

Already, fans are commending the collage of songs that Omawunmi has put out and various reviews have majorly given glowing reports about the album. Surely, Omawunmi, again, proves her mettle as an artiste that has tested time, and emerged stronger.

Omawumi’s biography

Born Omawumi Boma Megbele on April 13,  1982 to the late Chief (Dr.) Frank Anirejuoritse Megbele and Mrs Aya Queen Megbele in Warri. She is the 12th out of 14 children. Right from her early years, Omawumi had shown great potential as she was already the lead vocalist in her church, Foursquare Gospel Church in Warri at the age of eight.

Omawumi schooled in her hometown in her formative years, Nana Primary School and College of Education Demonstration Secondary School before heading off to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in 2005 where she got her law degree.

Omawumi got her big break into the Nigerian music industry when she auditioned for Idols West Africa and half a year after, became the first runner-up, Idols West Africa in 2007.

The multi-award-winning songstress has been successful in her music career, as, over time, she ventured into acting as she has consequently been featured in many movies such as Funke Akindele’s ‘Jenifa’ and ‘House of Gold’ alongside Yvonne Nelson.
