Makinde to Oyo residents: Vote for all PDP candidates in February, March elections

GUBERNATORIAL candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has appealed to the people of Oyo state to Vote for all candidates of the party in February 16 and March 2 elections, and vowed that he will serve as guarantor for all candidates of the party contesting for all National Assembly and House of Assembly positions in the state.

Makinde stated this while addressing representatives of Bodija Estate Residents’ Association (BERA) at Pentonrise Building, Housing Estate, Bodija, Ibadan.

He also reiterated the same position during a meeting with the League of Imams and Alfas in Ido local Government area of the state, at Ido central Mosque, Ido, Oyo state.

Makinde who said the February 16 election is as much important as March 2 and was involved in company of the senatorial candidate for Oyo South senatorial district, Dr Kola Balogun and House of Representatives candidate for Ido/Ibarapa central federal constituency, Honourable Yemi Taiwo.

Makinde said “I want to appeal to you to vote for all candidates of PDP. This is because, in 2015 in Oyo state, people rejected APC and voted 68 per cent against the party. And with just 32 per cent vote, they were able to win the election, a reason the administration thinks he owes nobody.

” In this case, democracy in Nigeria has not grown to that level that people can hold three ballot papers and vote differently. If we say its possible, then we all know that the percentage is very low. That is why I am canvassing votes for all PDP candidates, hold us accountable, these are people I can vouch for. Hold me accountable for their behaviours or performance, I will serve as their guarantor.

“A vote for the other party, again, is a vote for APC”, stressing that such could swing in their favour.

He then assured the community of his determination to lead a team of responsible, respectable politician under the banner of PDP to rule the state with the fear of God.

On his mission, Makinde mentioned his administration’s focus on education, wealth creation, infrastructure development and job creation to set the state on the PTH to true development enveloped in transparency and accountability.

At Ido, he assured the religious leaders that his administration will give autonomy to local administration in the state that will enable series of grassroots sections to function effectively and within the constitutionally.

According to him, “We will compel the local government to function effectively and functionally within the constitutional framework.

“Our administration will not be one sitting down in Ibadan and feast of allocation of the local governments. Just as I have promised not to cancel the LCDA created by the current administration but we will make it functional.

“If you go the two LCDA’s created from Ido local government, they don’t come not because of anything, the allocation would have been shared in Ibadan while they come here with only sign post to show as identity.

“But local government is a tier of government that should be autonomous and do what is lined up for it according to the constitution of this country, but I promise you that the next government in this state will ensure that so many things that is eluding the people at the grassroots will be catered for at that level.

“In our administration, they will have money to do all these because we won’t halve their allocation in Ibadan and give them peanuts to run the government at the local level.”
