Zamfara suspends district head over alleged link with bandits

ZAMFARA state government has announced the suspension of the District Head of Kuran Mota, Alhaji Marafa Ibrahim over his alleged involvement with armed bandits.

It would be recalled that since 2010 armed banditry has displaced thousands of people and rendered thousands homeless.

The suspension was contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bello Dankande Gamji and made available to newsmen in Gusau.

Consequently, a committee has been constituted by the ministry under the chairmanship of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alh. Haruna Salau to ascertain the level of alleged involvement against the traditional ruler.

The statement said the committee is expected to submit its report within one week to the ministry for prompt action.

“The committee is also mandated to work assiduously and find the fact of the matter and submit to the ministry in one week time, to guide the government on action to be taken,” the statement maintained.

The commissioner explained that if found wanting, the District Head will face the wrath of the law without fear or favour.

Additional report indicated that already the suspect has been apprehended by the police for proper investigation.
