Carnival Calabar unveils theme for 2018

In preparations for high point of the 32 days festival of Cross River State the 2018 Carnival Calabar, the organiser of the largest street party in Africa has unveiled Africanism as the theme for this year’s edition.

The theme which will guide all carnival bands (Freedom, Passion 4, Masta Blasta, Bayside and Seagul) in a well interpreted choreographic performances and display at the different adjudication point along the 12 kilometre carnival route was unveiled at the Government house in Calabar Tuesday.

However, a visiting Miss Africa from Botswana joined the governor opf Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade, the carnival commission team and international consultant at the government house for the event.

According to a Facebook post by the carnival’s international consultant, Mr Ikechi Uko “Botswana contingent will be joining the league of new attendees for the 2018 edition.

Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa with a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods.

The massive central Kalahari Game Reserve, with it fossilized river valleys and undulating grasslands, is home to numerous animals including giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
