The Bible is a book filled with beautiful stories and mysteries. In the book of Matthew, we encounter allot of parables. Parables contain physical characteristics of an object, people or animals to explain something spiritual.

What is the purpose of a parable?
The purpose of a parable is to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, this is written in Matthew 13:10-11. (In some Bible versions, it may say mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven.)
Jesus starts to speak in parables to the great crowd gathered around him in Matthew 13:3-9. Afterward, the twelve disciples received the explanation of the parables.

This was to fulfill what was said by the prophet in Isaiah 6:8-10.

The Coming of the son of men
After reading chapter 13, we come to understand the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:37-39 a little bit more. But What does it truly mean? In Luke 17:26-28 it mentions that the coming of the son of man (Jesus’s 2nd coming) will be like the days of Noah and Lot.

God promised in Genesis 6 that he would never flood the earth again, so what does it mean that the end of days will be like Noah and lot? What does it mean to flee to the mountains?

These are questions we have to ask ourselves in order to understand God’s plan. I encourage you to read Matthew chapter 13 to understand the parable of the sower and reflect upon yourself.

Father God who in Heaven, I pray that together with my fellow brothers and sisters we may fully understand your beautiful book, in order to understand the plans you have for us. I pray that you may give those who love you the eyes to see, and the ears to hear and the heart to. Amen.

xo, Gely
