Your Weekly Music Fix #13

Your Weekly Music Fix #13

New releases have been overflowing this week and I was lucky enough to make some amazing discoveries of artists and songs. It has been an incredible week in all possible senses and this includes the additions to my music library. Quite the adventure, I have to say. So without further ado – check out the Spotify and YouTube playlists for the best music I have found this week and in case you are curious about my comments for some of the songs keep reading. I hope you enjoy the 13th weekly music fix!

Halsey – Nightmare

Halsey is an artist who always puts lots of thought and meaning in everything she does and what makes her even better is her clear and well-communicated stance in subjects which she is passionate about. Nightmare‘s lyrics and video content are a perfect example of how well she is able to combine her personal story and views on relevant topics while at the same time creating a song which will make your blood boil while enjoying punk-rock sounds of the highest quality.

The new song is the perfect sequel to the Badlands and Hopeless Fountain Kingdom eras where Halsey takes a deep dive into her personal problems, story, thoughts, and struggles – incredibly honest and intimate the songs from the last two albums definitely resonated with her listeners in one way or another. Nightmare is empowering and angsty showing bits of Halsey‘s struggles in a subtle and metaphorically playful way and at the same time making a clear statement about the way women are treated and the artist’s disgust with the behavior of certain types of people.

Lyrically the song is more than perfect and when it comes to the sound the situation is similar. Incredibly energetic and slightly aggressive tones with an OG punk-rock vibes – you cannot stay still while listening. Melodic chorus and fast verses contribute to the overall musical experience and make the song a polished masterpiece – without a doubt the strongest start of the new Halsey ear we are all so impatiently looking forward to.

Machine Gun Kelly – Hollywood Whore

Hell.Fucking.Yes

This is my favorite type of MGK songs – brutally honest, no filters, raw, and open towards the worst of mental states. I did learn my lesson from my previous MGK post (thank you for opening my eyes, brother) and I now better understand the artist’s different song topics and moods. Regardless, Hollywood Whore definitely goes into the category of my favorite Machine Gun Kelly songs.

Tell me if I am being paranoid but is this the Numb (Linkin Park) intro and outro used in the beginning and end of the song? Anyway, this track is incredibly personal, emotional, and one of the most honest ones of the artist. Hollywood Whore (which MGK self-identifies as) shows the negative, draining, and simply inhuman side of the music world in a similar raw fashion as Macklemore did with Jimmy Lovine. Brutality and honesty are the key words here and the overwhelming story of what some artists have to face when they just pursue their dreams is just disgusting. Killer vibes from this track and a blod statement by the artist that no matter how much his mental state is affected by all of the struggles he has to face he will come out on top. And I have no doubts about that. Lyrically incredible with an amazing flow and beat the song will most likely end up in the favorites of any hip-hop fans out there.

Raleigh Ritchie – Stronger Than Ever

This guy. Damn, why am I always late with the best artist. Definitely, the best discovery I have made recently (eternally grateful for your music suggestions

Raleigh Ritchie is an actor (yes, you know the face from Game Of Thrones) and maybe this is one of the reasons his art is so vivid and clearly communicated. His lyrics are something you would guess he has been perfecting for years in a way which will strike you in the strongest possible way and make you contemplate on each and every decision you have ever made. His videos will enhance the feeling rapidly and bring his messages to life with amazing metaphors and incredibly lively scenes. Just a delight for your ears and eyes the guy is a typhoon of creativity and thought-provoking topics. His rap-rock energy and amazing combination of fast-paced flows and clear, slow vocals are another reason to fall in love with him. Check him out!

This particular song is one of my absolute favorites – splendid execution in all possible terms and incredibly strong and relevant message.

Finneas – Claudia

Why did I take so long to feature Finneas in the weekly music fix? I have no idea, the art of this human being is on another level and his songs are one of the most emotional and well-executed ones I have heard.

Most of you might know Finneas as Billie Eilish‘s brother and contributor but checking his music out will show you that he is an incredible and super hard-working artist on his own as well. Mostly writing about love and his personal experiences Finneas will make you slow dance with your own feelings in an unforgettable way.

This particular song is one of my favorites by the artist – Claudia was written for his girlfriend (Claudia Sulewski) after he first met her. The way of expression this guy has is incredible and it is very rare to see anyone being able to showcase his/her feelings in such a clear and impactful way. With just the right type of instrumentals and beats, Finneases music is something which will make a long lasting impression on you for sure. Check out his other songs as well if you are up for an emotional trip.

Lights – Lost Girls

Similarly to Halsey‘s new single Lights also made a new release this week which is an empowering tribute to the female power and beauty.

Lights is an artist with incredible talent and her songs are usually extremely raw and emotional and this song is not an exception. Great lyrics and soothing acoustic tunes to support the message of the song will contribute to the great experience you are about to have when listening to the song. Elements of the artist’s personal struggles and relevant topics regarding the treatment of women intertwine gracefully to create a powerful message and a great song. Check out the full discvography of the artist – you will be up for a treat, trust me.

After all the emotionally overwhelming topics and themes I feel obliged to end the weekly music fix with a simple delight for your soul – this song will take you on a December summer romance in Brazil. Just close your eyes and travel to a better place with the soothing and relaxing jazz and soul elements of this masterpiece. A great playlist with similar tracks can be found here in case you love the song as much as I do.

Thank you for being part of my musical journey once again. A huge thank you to all the people who send me songs and introduced me to incredible artists once again. I hope you enjoyed this one and stay tuned for more!
