In 2015, 14-year-old Ese Oruru was kidnapped by Yunusa Dahiru also known as ‘yellow’. Multiple reports said she was forced to convert to Islam and raped in Nothern Nigeria.

On Thursday, May 21, Dahiru was sentenced to 26 years in prison by the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State for child trafficking and sexual exploitation of Ese Oruru.

Today, reacting to the report of Justice Jane Inyang sentenced Dahiru to 26 years in prison, Bashir Ahmed, an Assistant to the President, said in response on Twitter to plea for help for Dahiru.
