The word Punya means Sacred, Pure, Virutuous, Meritorous, Holy. And this is exactly the mission that Punya Dham Ashram has embarked on. Punya Dham Ashram is an undertaking by the Vishwa Jagriti Trust, Pune. Their Motto is Serving God by Serving Humanity. It was started in 1999 by Maa Krishna Kashyap lovingly called Mataji. It was her aspiration to serve the poor and the needy. She had the blessings of Acharya Sudhanshu Maharaj. Punya Dham Ashram has been actively involved in social welfare and has helped victims of natural calamaties, rehabilitated widows, given scholarships to children, held blood camps for blood donation. It has supported paraplegics and arranged mobile clinics in slums.
To a man with empty stomach, food is God. No one should be hungry… everyone deserves at least one meal a day!” – Chairperson Maa Krishna Kashyap’s firm belief and with this idea in mind the ’Mahaparasad Sewa’ was set up and inaugurated in Punyadham Ashram on Sunday 7th July 2019 in presence of Maa Krishna Kashyap, President Sadananda Shetty, Ganesh Kamathe, Khimjibhai Gala, Vanita Daswani, Harish Sethi, Vasant Kamathe, Ramesh Grover, our senior citizens, library students & visitors among others.
At Punyadham Ashram, for many years now, every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month, ‘Bhandara’ was organized where people from areas of around Pisoli, Undri and Kondhwa came and relished a wholesome delicious meal (Mahaprasadam).
But, from 7th July, food will be served every day from 12.30 to 2 PM, with the objective of feeding the deserving. On the first day itself around 300 people came and had the ‘Mahaprasad’. A great feeling of contentment and joy was writ on everyone’s face… and this feeling is so priceless!
On happy occasions like birthdays and anniversaries or to commemorate the day in memory of loved ones, feeding the hungry will be an unique and blessed way to share your kindness, happiness and love with the more deserving.
