The Google Guys: Sporting Events To Do in Philadelphia!

Ever wonder what the folks over at Results Driven Marketing do during the summer when they’re not Turning Clicks into Clients™ and want to catch some high-level sporting action? Philadelphia during the summer is not only filled with many festivals, beer gardens, and other attractions but also with many sporting events.

It is well-known that Philadelphia is a diehard sports town through and through, but unfortunately, the professional teams haven’t had too much success recently. That’s a good thing, for your wallet at least, as you can catch professional games without breaking the bank.

Here are some fun ideas, if you want to catch some sports events during the summer.

Catch a Phillies game and maybe a win!

Unfortunately, the Phillies aren’t too good this season, as this is being written, they’re the worst team in baseball. While this is unfortunate, it means cheap tickets for us. For an average game, tickets can be had for under $20. They are also offering bundles, in which 4 tickets, food and drinks can be had for about a $100. A Phillies game is perfect for a night out with friends or family, while not breaking the bank. On top of that, a Phillies game is usually a good time and who doesn’t love the beautiful Citizens Bank Park.

Catch some goal scoring action at a Union Game!

A Union game is always a good time, the only downfall of the experience is that Talon Energy Stadium is in essentially in the middle of nowhere, located in the industrial district in Chester. The experience is worth it, however. It also located near the Commodore Barry Bridge making for a beautiful view.

Tickets can be had for not much over $30, making this perfect for a night out. If you really want to get into the action and take in the whole experience you can join the “Sons of Ben” in sections 134 to 140. The section is standing only though, but if you are willing to stand for the full game. We highly recommend it.

Watch Carson Wentz sling it for free at an open practice!

The Eagles begin Training Camp for the 2017 season on July 24th and will host 2 free open practices at Lincoln Financial on July 29 and August 6th, both practices occur on a Thursday and are set to begin at 10:00 am. If you have some free time, you can watch the team practice position drills, 7 on 7 scrimmages, and even go through full team scrimmages.  If you want to experience an NFL team practice this is a great opportunity, and best of all it’s free!

Watch the Eagles get into season form at a Preseason game!

If you like football and want to catch some live action but find the regular season prices to be too expensive, a preseason game is perfect. Tickets can be had for as little as $35. The Eagles will host both the Buffalo Bills, on August 17 at 7:00 pm, and the Miami Dolphins, on August 24 at 7:00 pm, as they fine-tune for the regular season. Preseason games usually have a good atmosphere and are a good time.

Hang around Iron Hill Twilight Race Series!

The Iron Twilight Race Series is one of the top pro and amateur races in the country. It is a daylong event filled with a variety of races, other biking events, and even a block party. The event occurs on August 20th and kicks off at 8 am and concludes at 7:45 pm as racers take on a 0.6-mile course which extends over 8 city blocks of historic downtown West Chester.

This event is a good time, you can take in professional and amateur bike races and enjoy good food and drink at the block party.

Catch NBA Legend Allen Iverson hooping at the BIG 3 pro basketball league!

Do want to NBA Legends such as Allen Iverson or the “White Mamba,” Brain Scalabrine, take the court once more? You’re in luck; the Big 3 Pro Basketball League features many of the NBA’s former stars taking each other in half-court 3 on 3 action. In its inaugural season, the league is on a cross-country tour, visiting Philadelphia on Sunday, July 16th with games beginning at 6:00 pm.

This is an interesting event, as we will be able to observe former top NBA talent in a different setting. Tickets start at $25 and children 13 or younger get in for free with an adult ticket, courtesy of Rashard Lewis.

See the Soul attempt to defend their Arena Football League (AFL) Championship!

While Arena Football may not carry the same glamor that comes with the NFL, it is just as entertaining if not more. Arena football is played on a 50-yard field, with any balls that bounce off the walls and nets still live, and no punting on fourth downs. All this combines for fast paced action, big hits and scores that regularly surpass 100 total points scored per game.

If that isn’t enough to get you pumped for some arena action, consider the ticket prices. Great seats can be had for under $40, even at times being as low as $20 for good seats. Also, arena football is played in the summer, so you can get you football fix when both the NFL and College Football are in the offseason. Making this for a great night out for any football fan.
