Thoughts on the African-French dominated World Cup winning team

Streets of Africa

Personally as an African I would love to call the French team to this World Cup African just for sake of the feel good placebo effect. But the reality is that they are French.
Yeah, a couple of Africans by ethnicity are in the squad. But give credit to the French football system for discovering these talents. This French team is evidence that the poor performances of African teams at the World Cup is not because of DNA but because of administration. Players like Paul Pogba and co are on the streets of towns and villages in Africa but would never be discovered by the countries because the football system is broken. So it is one thing to have the talents but it's another thing to discover them. For centuries Southern Nigerians sat upon vast deposits of crude oil which would easily have made them one of the richest people in the universe but until the Europeans arrived to discover the resources, the Africans never did. And for their error, the Europeans had great share if not more share of the Nigerian petroleum because they discovered it and had the ability to drill it. This same scene works with this French squad. The French discovered the players and used them in a move that brought mutual benefit for player and country.
Africa needs to learn to discover her talents. I am a Nigerian and before the World Cup you could see the Nigerian F. A. lobbying to win over players with dual citizenship (Nigerian and foreign). Let's face it, these players were made by the European football system. If they lived in Africa they would likely be among the undiscovered, overlooked immensely talented individuals walking the streets of the continent.
I think Africa would win the World Cup in no distant time, it just takes a golden generation of players to achieve that. But for now l would bask in France's glory seeing it proves that Africans performing poorly at the World Cup isn't down to DNA.
