The Isle of Skye

Tags: skye photo isle

Exploring destinations that are closer to home can be more exotic and surprising than expected. Rather than going abroad for last summer’s holiday, my wife and I drove up to the Isle of Skye. Photo credit to my lovely wife for all photos in this post.

The best weather and clearest skies we encountered were on the north coast as we drove from Portree, past Staffin and then down to Uig.

Below: Haggis, neeps and tatties.  Translation: Haggis: A sausage-like savoury pudding that tastes a lot better than you would think given the ingredients that are in it. Neeps and tatties = mashed turnips and potatoes.

The Fairy Pools on Skye were absolutely stunning, although we did get caught in a torrential downpour before we could get back to the car. At Kilt Rock the sun came out for long enough to get a photo of the waterfall pouring into the sea.
