Ramadan month is celebrated in Nigeria and all over the world from May 15th until June 14th in 2018. It is also one of the most important times of the year in the lives of Muslim families in different countries, including Nigeria. It is a holy period for all people who honor Islam on our planet Earth.

Based on the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month of the year. It celebrates the revealing of the Quran (Koran) to Prophet Muhammad on the ‘holy night’ or ‘night of power.’ This is the month of fasting from dawn to Sunset, growing self-discipline, and respect towards all humans, both rich and poor. This is also the month of Muslim praying.

Islamic prayer time

Because Ramadan starts with May 15’s sunset, the prayers can start in the evening, midnight or begin on the next day. Starting from early morning on Wednesday, May 16th, you can pray to honor the beginning of the holiday through the end of Ramadan.

Here is an accurate timetable of Muslim praying day by day for two major Nigerian cities Lagos and Abuja:

Lagos May 15 – June 14

  • May 16, 17 – 5:10 am (dawn prayer), 18:55 pm (sunset prayer)
  • May 18-22 – 5:09 am (dawn prayer), 18:56 pm (sunset prayer)
  • May 23 – June 12 – 5:08 am (dawn prayer), from 18:56 pm to 19:01 pm (sunset prayer)
  • June 13-14 – 5:09 am (dawn prayer), 19:01 pm (sunset prayer)

Abuja May 15 – June 14

  • May 16, 17 – 4:49 am (dawn prayer), 18:43 pm (sunset prayer)
  • May 18, 19, 20, 21 – 4:48 am (dawn prayer), 18:43 pm and 18:44 pm (sunset prayer)
  • May 22-28 – 4:47 am (dawn prayer), 18:44 pm and 18:45 pm (sunset prayer)
  • May 29 – June 11 – 4:46 am (dawn prayer), 18:46 pm (sunset prayer)
  • June 12-14 – 4:47 am (dawn prayer), 18:50 pm (sunset prayer)

We have listed the two main Ramadan prayer times 2018 in Nigeria because dawn and sunset is also the time for Suhoor and Iftar meals. At the same time, the Islamic prayer time is also scheduled for other parts of the days. Prayer time can at sunrise (around 6:30 am), at noon (around 1 pm, 4 pm), at night (after 8 pm), and after midnight (around 0:44 am).
