Unleash the Power of Smart Health with Digital Health Trends

Meera Patel, a Corporate Manager, found herself struggling to prioritise her Health amidst the challenging work-life balance. With long working hours and limited time for self-care, Meera’s health started to suffer. Recognising the need for a change, she turned to digital health trends to regain control of her well-being.

One day, Meera came across an innovative wellness app, which promised personalised health monitoring, virtual consultations, and a host of other features to support her wellness journey.

Through the app, Meera connected with a team of healthcare professionals led by Dr Sanjay Kapoor. In her first virtual consultation, Dr Kapoor carefully assessed her health goals, lifestyle, and medical history. Using this information, a personalised health plan was created for Meera, which included a balanced diet, an exercise routine, and stress management techniques.

Meera received a smart wearable device seamlessly integrated with the app to monitor her progress. The device tracked her steps, heart rate, and sleep patterns, and even provided reminders for medication and hydration. The real-time data was securely transmitted to Dr Kapoor’s team, allowing them to closely monitor Meera’s health remotely and make timely adjustments to her plan.

Meera’s story exemplifies the remarkable transformation happening in the world of healthcare. From telemedicine and wearable devices to mobile health apps and remote patient monitoring, these innovations are revolutionising the way we approach healthcare.

Recent studies have shown the significant impact of digital health technologies on improving patient outcomes. According to a survey conducted by Deloitte, 76% of patients using digital health tools reported improved access to care and greater convenience. This highlights the potential of telemedicine to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and patients, enabling virtual consultations and remote monitoring.

Pankaj Balwani, Founder & CEO of Xplore Health Technologies stated in an interview with Healthworld, “The most recent advances in medical IoT- and the one I believe will have the greatest impacts-are in patient monitoring. As I previously stated, if you look at the applications, one of the big applications where there is nothing available right now, say a patient who has been discharged from the hospital, is there any way available right now where his doctor or hospital can monitor and post-discharge when he is at home, or he is away, or maybe an international patient who has come to India for treatments. While there are ways and means for monitoring these patients.”

As per a report by Grand View Research, In 2022, the consumer electronics application segment also emerged as the leading sector in the industry, generating a significant share of over 48.95% of the total revenue. This growth can be attributed to the increased adoption of wearable technology, including fitness bands and AR/VR headsets. Key manufacturers, including Garmin Ltd.,  Apple Inc., Nemaura, and Omron, have majorly focused on developing devices that give comprehensive data encompassing (both clinical and non-clinical information). For instance, Nemaura’s Sugarbeet Wearable Technology has revolutionized the daily finger-prick calibration process by enabling frequent blood glucose monitoring for individuals with diabetes.

Moreover, mobile health apps have become an integral part of our daily lives, providing personalised health recommendations, medication reminders, and fitness tracking. The app market continues to overgrow, with an estimated 1.96 billion health app downloads in 2020, as reported by Research2Guidance. These apps facilitate self-care, disease management, and mental well-being.
